MOUNT Pleasant marked one of its best A-grade netball performance in many Bendigo Bank Heathcote DFNL seasons on Saturday.
The Anthea McCleary-coached Mount Pleasant beat Elmore by 34 goals in the 13th round.
The Blues had home-court advantage at Toolleen for the big clash with the Bloods.
A 62-28 result in favour of Mounts surprised many league followers, especially after Elmore had played well the previous Saturday to defeat Harlowe Huntly Hawks.
In a clash between third and fifth it was the Blues who played outstanding netball and in the process moved to the second rung on the ladder.
An Elmore line-up jointly coached by Cayde Hayes and Hayley Langdon faces another big test against the unbeaten Colbinabbin in next Saturday’s play.
The Bloods will be on their court at Elmore Recreation Reserve.
Lockington Bamawm United ended its winless run and also jumped from the bottom rung on the ladder.
The Kerryn Giorgianni and Shelby Stone-coached LBU Cats were in great form on Heathcote’s court at Pigeon Park in Barrack Reserve.
After racing to a 15-8 lead by quarter-time, LBU then won the second term, 17-11.
Quarters three and four went the way of the Cats, 16-12 and 12-9.
At the final siren LBU led 60-40 against the Anna Dundon-coached Heathcote.
It was a closely-fought match between Huntly and North Bendigo at Huntly’s Strauch Reserve.
The Ashlea Sherlock and Kym Bell-coached Huntly led 16-14 at quarter-time and 28-24 by the main break.
Huntly increased its buffer by a goal in the third quarter.
Desperate for the points to stay in touch with the top five, North Bendigo kept working hard.
Both teams scored 12 goals in the last as the Hawks marked a 52-47 win against the Kiralee Kinder-coached North Bendigo team.
Colbinabbin’s hot run kept rolling as the Grasshoppers scored 95-34 win against Leitchville Gunbower at Colbinabbin’s M.J. Morgan Oval.
It was the ??? time this season the Jen McIntyre-coached Grasshoppers have passed the 90-goal mark and ??? time they have surpassed a target of 80-plus goals.
The Grant Matthews-coached Leitchville Gunbower will be on its court at Gunbower for next Saturday’s clash with Heathcote.
The Winslow Constructors White Hills Demons had the bye.
