Top two clash in Lions’ den in Hay

TOP teams Hay and Ultima will clash in Saturday’s 13th round in Golden Rivers senior footy.

The ladder-leading Hay has home-ground advantage in the Lions den.

Another big showdown between last season’s grand finalists kicks off at 2.25pm.

It’s one-all in this season’s contests.

Hay won round three by 41 points and the Kangaroos bounced back for a 50-point victory in the eighth round.

Key match-ups include Hay’s Brad Pocock at centre half-back against Jack Delmenico, and Jacob Watson in the centre opposed to Jake Foster.

A strong attack for the Lions is led by Jack Headon, Declan Watson and Kenneth Jubb.

Huge roles will be played by Ultima defenders Angus Hinton, Brodie Bennett and Lachlan Bull.

An 11-1 record has the Jason Aylett and James Moran-coached Hay leading the way in the premiership race.

The Lions’ line-up includes Fergus and Jack Cattanach, Dylan Collis and Tom McGufficke.

Ultima ruckman Cameron Johnson has a crucial role against James Moran.

Other players to watch for the Mitch Seton-Stewart and Kyle Symons-coached Kangaroos include Thomas Bull, Ryan Featherby, Corey Grey and Thomas Isma.

Another important match will be at Murrabit where the Blues take on Wandella.

Both are locked on 20 points and third and fourth on the ladder.

It’s one-all in this season’s meetings between the Blues and Bombers.

Wandella won in round three by 15 points, and the Blues by 20 in the eighth.

The Jack Shannahan-coached Murrabit will be keen hit back from last week’s 28-26 loss at Macorna.

Murrabit has Jack Keath, Bailey Pengelly, Jordan Lampi and Bryden Morison to team up at centre ball-ups and stoppages.

Blues’ defenders Matt Moon, Patrick Bryan and Rhys Carmichael will be up against Sam Taylor, Bombers’ coach Justin Robinson, and Connor Jamieson.

Murrabit’s attack is led by Brody Palmer, Adam Thomson and Joseph Zambelli.

Huge test for Wandella defenders Logan Keighran, Mitch Collins and Jonty Taylor.

Moulamein will be on its turf to play Macorna.

Victory would put the Swans back in the four.

Although it has beaten Macorna by 31 and 64 points, Moulamein will be wary of what the Tigers can do.

The Paul Longstaff and Shaun Haffenden-coached Macorna capped its hard work in a two-point win against Murrabit last Saturday.

Key players for Moulamein include Brodie Tonkin in the centre, rover Trae Atkinson, ruckman Ely Miller, Mark Drotsky and Heath Moloney in defence.

The Swans are jointly coached by Brodie Tonkin and Hayden Dalitz.

In-form players for Macorna include Tori Ferguson, Connor Burge, Luke Gray, John Officer, Corey Walters and Reece Wissell.

The team in yellow and black includes Jackson Fry, Cooper Carmichael and Brian Minogue.
