Wedderburn chases upset victory in Sea Lake

WEDDERBURN will chase an upset win on Sea Lake Nandaly’s turf in Saturday’s round 15 clash in Goldacres North Central senior footy.

The Tom Metherell-coached Wedderburn rolls into this match in fifth place, but just a win behind the fourth-placed Boort.

Beating the Tigers will take a massive feat as SLN won at Wedderburn’s Donaldson Park in round eight by 51 points.

Key players for Wedderburn include Zach Pallpratt, Hamish and Joe Lockhart, Jye Mortlock, Jackson and Mitchell McEwen.

The Redbacks also have the experienced Adam Postle and Danny Benaim in their line-up.

Wedderburn takes on a powerful attack which scored more than 200 points at Donald last round.

Tigers’ forwards Max Cahoon, Lachy McClelland and John Summerhayes dominated the showdown with the Royal Blues.

A strong team for Sea Lake Nandaly as it chases a premiership hat-trick includes Ryan O’Sullivan, Kane, Trent and Wade Donnan, and Jack Poulton.

The Tigers are jointly coached by Bryce Delmenico and Billy McInnes.

St Arnaud will be on home turf at Lord Nelson Park to play Boort.

The Saints are up against an opponent on the rebound from defeat and under pressure to hold on to fourth place.

Best for the Scott Driscoll-coached St Arnaud against Birchip-Watchem last round were Bailey Durward, Simon Elliott, Jay Kirwood, Thomas Bertalli, Sam Male and Lucas Bridger.

Boort’s best against Wedderburn were Jack Smith, Kayne Rutley, Carlos Egan, James Keeble, Max Beattie and Jhye Baddeley-Kelly,

The Magpies are coached by Dale Cameron.

Charlton will be on its turf to play the unbeaten Birchip-Watchem.

The squad for the Mitch Collins-coached Charlton includes Kris Clifford, Billy Sexton, Patrick Soulsby, Jackson and Sebastian Zagame, Ben Lanyon, and Ben Xiriha.

Birchip-Watchem forward Ben Edwards kicked 15 goals in last Saturday’s win against St Arnaud to be on 105 goals.

A strong attack for the Ash Connick-coached Bulls includes Tom Gibson.

Birchip-Watchem’s squad has ruckman Hamish Hosking, the consistent Nicholas Rippon, captain Dale Hinkley, Rhona Conboy, and Daniel Bell.

A tough run for Donald rolls on as the Royal Blues will be on home turf to play Calder United Lions.

Huge plus for Donald is the return of Feeny medallist and centreman Ross Young for his fourth game of the season.

Young will take on Lions’ co-captain Koby Hommelhoff.

Donald’s defence led by Brady Griffiths, Dyson Bell-Warren and Daniel Pearce can expect a torrid time against Jack Exell, Daniel Watts and Jack Marlais.

In midfield the Royals have Charlie Burke and Jett Adams on the wings opposed to Calder co-captain Rylee Smith and Tiger Vearing.

Massive test for Donald on-ballers Seth Pearse, George Morgan and Thomas Reekie against Angus Forrester, Steven Kennedy and Zane Keighran.

Formed by the merger of Wycheproof-Narraport and Nullawil, Calder United is co-coached by Darryl Wilson and Jordan Humphreys.
