Demons stay in premiership race

NYAH Nyah West United’s quest for back-to-back 3SH senior footy premierships in the Central Murray has kept rolling on.

The NNWU Demons scored a 26-point win against Cohuna Kangas in last Sunday’s first semi-final at Tooleybuc.

It was a remarkable start by the reigning premier as NNWU raced to a 47-8 lead by quarter-time.

The Jack Geary-coached Cohuna Kangas bounced back to win the second term, 43-14.

Five goals as it kept Cohuna to just two majors in the third meant the Demons were up 95-64 by the last change.

The Kangas won the last, 13-8, but it was the Nyah Nyah West United team which stayed in the flag race following a 103-77 victory.

Demons’ co-coach Corey Daniels led the attack on four goals as Jordan Iudica booted three and Nic Threadgold added two.

Other goalkickers for the red and blue were Brayden Bigham, Charlie Boulton, Alex Erlandson, Ethan Saville, Max Thompson and Patrick Veszpremi.

The Kangas’ leading goalkickers were Corbin Anderson, Tyson Farrant and Tom Toma on two each.

Chris Anderson, Lachlan English, Jarrod Findlay, Cooper McLoughlan, Jacob Mitchell and Will O’Shea were also on target for Cohuna.

Best for Nyah Nyah West United were Charlie Boulton, Brady Davidson, Alex Erlandson, Zack Threadgold, Jordan Iudica and Nash Richman.

Cohuna Kangas’ best were Tom Toma, Will Lee, Cooper McLoughlan, Chris Anderson, Jarrod Findlay and Ricky Monti.

A Demons’ line-up which has Jason Murphy as co-coach will now face Mallee Eagles in the preliminary final.

The Eagles were overrun by Woorinen in the second half of Saturday’s second semi-final in Barham.

Mallee played well to lead 38-34 by half-time.

In the third the Tim Free-coached Tigers scored 4.7 and kept the Eagles to a score of 2.1.

A 14-point buffer for Woorinen at the start of the last was 27 by the siren as the yellow and black marked a 99-72 victory.

The Woorinen attack was led by Jose Miliado on four goals as Jye Barry and Tom Langford kicked two each.

Other goalkickers for Woorinen were Will Collicoat, Matt Perry, Kane Reid, Robert Rush, Zack Ryan and Kyle Skene.

The Eagles’ leading goalkickers were Shaun Harrison, co-coach Brent Macleod and Andrew Mead-Harding on two.

Mallee also had Beau Bennett, Brady Fordham, Darcy Hourigan and Zac O’Meara on target.

Best players for both teams were not supplied.

As Woorinen rests up for the grand final an Eagles’ team coached by Harry Allen and Brent Macleod will tackle Nyah Nyah West United in the preliminary final.

The Eagles have home-ground advantage in Lalbert.

In the reserves competition, Woorinen is first to the grand final after a 63-41 win against Mallee Eagles in the second semi.

The Tigers led 36-32 at half-time and then booted three goals as they kept the Eagles scoreless  in the third quarter.

Mallee hit back to win the last, 9-6, but it was Woorinen which marked a 63-41 victory.

Jason Iannucci capped a great match for Woorinen by kicking four goals as Tim Gammon added two.

Other goalkickers for the yellow and black were Tyler Beasy, Zac Cordwell and Xavia Elford.

The Eagles’ leading goalkicker was Dominic Makur on two as Tom Dunn, Ashlin Grant, Charlie Kingwill and Mitch McIntyre were also on target.

Best for Woorinen were Elwood Stacey, Jake Butler, Jason Iannucci, Tim Gammon, Kyle Steicke and Ryan Prendergast.

Mallee’s best were Cameron Cook, Clem Miller, Charlie Kingwill, Dominic Makur, Max Parsons and Hunter Wells.

Lake Boga stayed in the premiership race as it won Sunday’s first semi-final against Koondrook Barham by 59 points.

The Magpies were up 51-28 by half-time and then dominated the second half.

As Lake Boga scored seven goals in the last two quarters it kept the River Raiders to tally of 1.5.

By the final siren the Magpies led 98-39.

Charlie Bryan kicked three goals in a best-on-ground performance as Cody Mirschin also booted three majors.

The Magpies had Jayden Trebilcock kick two as Bodi Clune, Thomas Cotton, Fraser Colville, Shannon O’Reilly, Jacson Stewart and Jarrod Taylor added one each.

Koondrook Barham’s attack was led by Todd Frankling on three as Warren Lolicato and Clay Watts kicked one.

Best for Lake Boga were Charlie Bryan, Bodi Clune, Harry Bull, Zac Palmer, Fraser Colville and Jayden Trebilcock.

Joel Davidson, Tom Amor, Rylan Attwell, Mitch Lowry, Lachlan McInnes and Ash Molin were best for the River Raiders.

Swan Hill qualified for the Colts grand final after it won the second semi-final against Lake Boga by 17 points.

The Swans were down 20-29 at half-time of the clash with the Magpies.

Swan Hill scored six goals straight in the third quarter to lead 56-42 going into the last.

The Swans won the final term, 18-15, and the match, 74-57.

Wilhem Bennett was in superb touch as he kicked six goals to be best-on-ground for the Swans.

Sonny Beasy booted two goals as Mitch Bannam, Sam Brown and Jimmy Kelly were also on target.

Goalkickers for Lake Boga were Kai Everett on two as Bryce Anderson, Ned Ayson, Darcy Butler, Reef Mulligan, Chad O’Sullivan and Hamish Pickering added one each.

Swan Hill’s best were Wilhem Bennett, Lachlan Vrolijks, Jack Brown, Lane Cardenas, Tom Robertson and Sam Brown.

Max O’Reilly, Willem Pye, Willem Holmes, Maximus Caruso, Lachlan Bull and Ned Ayson played well for the Magpies.

Balranald dominated the first semi-final against Cohuna Kangas.

In the clash of two mobs it was Balranald which bound its way to a 151-31 victory.

Jacob Zanker kicked 11 goals as Sebastian Papa slotted five.

Other goalkickers for the victorious Kangaroos were Levi Ryan on two, and Archie Alderuccio, Jacob and Lucas Griffiths, Bob Helgeland and Joseph Scalora.

Cohuna’s attack was led by Gus Palmer on two as Jessie-James Bullock, Liam Edge, Ryder Glass booted one each.

Best for Balranald were Lucas Griffiths, Jacob Zanker, Sebastian Papa, Archie Alderuccio, Levi Ryan and Bob Helgeland.

Ryder van der Zande, Ryder Glass, Cooper Lacy, Liam Edge, Dylan Reid and Jack Patterson worked hard for Cohuna Kangas.

The Mildura Health Fund under-15s second semi-final ended in a 60-9 win for Swan Hill against Kerang.

The Swans led 32-1 at quarter-time and 51-2 by the long break.

Kerang goaled through Oscar Greenwood in the third quarter.

The Swans’ attack was led by Hugh Angus, Archie Brown and Jimmy Kelly on two goals as Clem Harris, Tallen Hinton and Noah Pearson added one.

Best for Swan Hill were Clem Harris, Jimmy Kelly, Lenny Ryan, Tom Robertson, Owen Uebergang and Noah Pearson.

Kai Roberts, Charlie and Oscar Greenwood, Madden Walker, Beau Roberts and Campbell McAlpin were best for the Blues from Kerang.

Mallee Eagles stayed in the under-15s flag race after a 43-23 win against Koondrook Barham.

The KB River Raiders led 10-nil at quarter-time before Mallee won the second term, 22-nil.

Quarter three went KB’s way, 13-12, but the Eagles were able to add 1.3 and keep the Raiders scoreless in the last term.

Hamish Credlin kicked two goals for the Eagles as Ton Fishwick, Aiden Kennedy, Oscar Kingwill and Saxon O’Meara added one each.

Alex Chisholm kicked two goals for Koondrook Barham as Tennysen O’Neill added the other.

Best for the Mallee Eagles were Oscar Kingwill, Amon Roberts, Aiden Kennedy, Kelland Parsons, Saxon O’Meara and Kade Wells.

Koondrook Barham’s best were Jakson Curry, Brodie Hall, Alex Chisholm, Bailey Weston, Dustin Bohn and James McDonald.
