The Central Victoria Football League (CVFL) is pleased to announce that the transfer request from the Echuca United Football Netball Club’s Youth Girls team has been officially approved.
The transfer process has been undertaken in line with AFL Victoria guidelines, with both Echuca United and the CVFL working closely to ensure a smooth transition. As a result, Echuca United will proudly join the CVFL Under 18 competition from the 2026 season. CVFL Operations Manager Paul Colbert welcomed the addition of Echuca United, noting the positive impact the club will bring to the competition.
“We’re delighted to welcome Echuca United into the CVFL family. Their strong commitment to developing girls’ football and the impressive foundations they have built within their club will only strengthen our league,” he said.
The inclusion of Echuca United highlights the CVFL’s ongoing commitment to the growth of girls and women’s football across central and northern Victoria. With increasing participation numbers and more clubs expressing interest in joining, the CVFL continues to provide sustainable pathways for young female players to develop and thrive. The club’s Youth Girls program has shown strong participation and growth, and joining the CVFL in 2026 will ensure players are part of a well-structured, competitive, and supportive environment.
“This is an exciting step forward for our club and our Youth Girls program,” said Club President Peter Quanchi and Junior Football President Vanessa Brewis. “We’re grateful for the support of AFL Central Victoria and the CVFL in making this transition possible, and we’re looking forward to competing in such a well-respected league.” The CVFL looks forward to seeing Echuca United take the field in 2026 and contributing to the continued growth of the game across the region.
