CASTLEMAINE will be braced for the heat from the White Hills Demons in Sunday’s round seven match in the Champions IGA-backed CVFL senior women’s footy competition.
It’s second against third as Castlemaine and White Hills play from 1pm at The Railway Hotel Oval in Castlemaine’s Camp Reserve.
Both teams take winning form into this contest.
Castlemaine kicked off round six by winning last Friday night’s clash with Sandhurst under the Camp Reserve lights by 27 points.
White Hills capped its trip to Woodend’s Racecourse Reserve by defeating Wedge-Tailed Eagles by 10 points.
Huge task for the Sharni Barker and Allara Jackson-coached Demons to defeat Castlemaine on its ground.
A talented Castlemaine team coached by Jordan Cochrane includes Paynton Jolliffe, Jemma Finning, Taylah Sartori, Tiahna Cochrane and Abbey Klemm.
Key players for the red and black include Sasha Pearce, Acacia Edwards, Kara Kane, Hannah Ripper and Kadeisha Smith.
Wedge-Tailed Eagles are back home at Woodend’s Racecourse Reserve to play the ladder-leading Golden Square from 1pm.
Defeat is likely to put the Phil Hawkes-coached Eagles out of the top four.
Crucial match-ups for the Eagles include Aisha Mansfield at full-back against Gabby Drage, Dana Raguz in the ruck against Karley Hynes, and Brooke Cowan in attack against Maddie Jelbart.
Other players to watch for WTE include Ayesha Nicholson, Jorja Bennett, Emma Williams and Demi Henderson.
It’s been a superb run by the Darren Walsh-coached Golden Square to be top of the ladder on a five-one record.
The blue and gold has the in-form Makayla Roberts, Lily Mansfield and Kira Gibbons teaming up with Liz Watkins, Tania Kerrison and Sarah Mannes.
It’s the clash of the neighbours as Marong meets Eaglehawk at Jackal Oval in Marong’s Malone Park from 1pm.
A Marong squad coached by Brett Carter includes Alex Purdy, Jayda Smith, Bridget Chalkley, Jessica McDonald and Jess Ballinger.
Eaglehawk coach Molly Metcalf kicked five goals and was among the best in the win against Bendigo Thunder.
The Hawks’ line-up includes Monique Gavriladis, Eliza Long, Kelly Mensforth, Lexie Moss, Taylah Nicholson and Freyja Pearce.
Sandhurst faces Bendigo Thunder at Queen Elizabeth Oval from 1pm.
A three-three record has the Liam Ireland and Andrew Saladino-coached Sandhurst in sixth place.
The Sandhurst squad for this clash includes Sarah Baldwin, Grace, Lily and Ruby Campbell, Chloe Naughton, Chloe Swatton and Chloe Taylor.
Another massive challenge for the Mick McInnes-coached Thunder squad which includes Stacey Barbagallo, Sharlene Cole, Ngaire Harlan, Hollie Maher, Shasta Marion and Rachel Salm.
