THE Woorinen Tigers fought to score a seven-point victory against Koondrook Barham in Saturday’s start to the split fifth round in the Radio 3SH Central Murray FNL senior footy season.
A great match was played between the River Raiders and Tigers at Barham Recreation Reserve.
The Marcus Demaria-coached Koondrook Barham led 32-23 at quarter-time, but Woorinen hit back to win the second term, 26-14.
By the last change it was Koondrook Barham which led 72-69 against the reigning premier.
As the Tim Free-coached Tigers scored four goals in the final term they kept the KB line-up to a tally of two goals.
Woorinen led 94-87 at the final siren.
The Tigers’ attack was led Jose Miliado on five goals as Sam Hilton-Joyce kicked three and Jye Barry and Lachlan Warburton chipped in with two each.
Leading goalkickers for Koondrook Barham were Kye Atwell, four, and Cameron Arnold and Liam Read on three.
Woorinen’s best were Jye Barry, Lachlan Gardner, Henry Thompson, Jose Miliado, Hugh Thompson and Lachlan Warburton.
Best for Koondrook Barham were Kye Atwell, Martin Kelly, Jack Poulton, Jacob Barrington, Liam Read and Ryleigh Wilkinson.
Kerang marked a three-goal win on its ground at Riverside Park against Tooleybuc Manangatang.
The Brad Pay-coached Blues 40-12 at quarter-time.
Tooleybuc Manangatang fought back to win the second, 25-12.
In the third it was Kerang which scored 5.1 and kept the Saints to a tally of 3.1.
The visitors won the last, 19-11, but it was the Blues who celebrated a 94-76 victory.
Leading goalkickers for Kerang were Zak Bozanich and Tyson Clingan, three; Flynn McKnight, Nic Oliver and Jack Sullivan, two.
The Saints’ attack was led by Austin Hodge, three; Josh Chatfield and Rydar Morris, two.
Kerang’s best were Rylee Gitsham, Bohden and Flynn McKnight, Jack Sullivan, Damian Byrne and Tyson Clingan.
Robbie McComb, Xavier Brenton-Reed, Luke McComb, Nick Ryan, Josh Chatfield and Rydar Morris played well for the Robbie McComb and Nayef Hamad-coached Saints.
Nine goals by Beau Schwarze capped Nyah Nyah West United’s big win at Lake Boga.
The Demons were up 22-8 at quarter-time and then slammed on eight goals in the second term to lead 72-23 by the long break.
Heat from the Corey Daniels-coached NNWU Demons did not let up as they scored 10 goals in the third and eight in the last.
Schwarze capped the Demons’ dominance in the midfield and on-ball contests to kick nine goals in the 176-45 victory.
Other leading goalkickers for NNWU were Alex Erlandson and Jordan Johnston, four; and Jonathon Ross, three.
Lake Boga’s attack was led by Lachlan Tarczon with two.
Best for Nyah Nyah West United were Jordan Johnston, Jaydyn Stirling, Scott Carlin, Beau Schwarze, Brayden Bigham and Riley Daniels.
Jordan Reardon, Max O’Reilly, Charlie Bryan, Marty Parsons, Braden Padmore and Willem Holmes played well for the Dean Helmers-coached Magpies.
Moulamein scored a 10-goal win at home against Balranald.
It was the Brent Macleod-coached Balranald which started strongly to be up 21-8 at quarter-time.
The Swans fought back to win the second, 43-15.
Moulamein scored seven goals in the third and four in the last on the way to a 124-64 victory.
Adam Curry led the Swans’ attack on four goals as Charlie Bowes, Peter Costanzo and Heath Moloney kicked two each.
Balranald’s leading goalkicker was Liam Farnsworth on three.
Best for the Brodie Tonkin and Hayden Dalitz- coached Moulamein were Charlie Bowes, Heath Moloney, William Doquille, Ely Miller, Will Mertz and Peter Costanzo.
Balranald’s best were Ryan Middlebrook, Liam Farnsworth, Jack and Tom Salau, and Jye Hogan.
