Dragons face Castlemaine under Friday Night Lights

SANDHURST faces Castlemaine under the lights at Queen Elizabeth Oval in Friday night’s start to round 10 in the Champions IGA-backed CVFL senior women’s footy season.

The Dragons and Magpies will fight for premiership points from 7.30pm at the View Street ground in Bendigo.

It’s third against second.

Sandhurst’s sixth win of the season was an 87-point triumph against Wedge-Tailed Eagles at Woodend’s Racecourse Reserve in Pride Round.

A Sandhurst team coached by Liam Ireland and Andrew Saladino worked hard in a 59-32 loss to Castlemaine at the Railway Hotel Oval in Castlemaine’s Camp Reserve in round six.

In-form players for Sandhurst include Lily and Ruby Campbell, Taylah Klemm and Alannah Prowse.

The Dragons’ squad includes Sarah Baldwin, Phoebe Cuttriss, Chloe Taylor and Maddy White.

Castlemaine scored a 35-point win on Eaglehawk’s turf at C and M Oval in Canterbury Park when Pride Round kicked off.

Stars for the Jordan Cochrane-coached Magpies against the Hawks were Tiahna Cochrane, Jemma Finning, Alice D’Arcy and Eillish Cumming.

Castlemaine’s drive toward a fifth consecutive premiership is led through the play of Tiffany Bradley, Rebekah Forrest, Paynton Jolliffe and Taylah Sartori.

Three matches will be played on Sunday from 1pm.

It’s the Hawks against the Eagles as Eaglehawk hosts Wedge-Tailed Eagles at Canterbury Park.

Crucial clash as fifth takes on fourth.

When these teams met in round five it was Eaglehawk which soared to a 36-27 victory in Woodend.

Players to watch for the Two Blues include coach Molly Metcalf, Lucy El Hage, Shelby Faulkner, Monique Gavriliadis, Chloe Lenaghan and Freyja Pearce.

The Phil Hawkes-coached Wedge-Tailed Eagles have marked their first season in the CVFL with a win-loss tally of four-five.

A strong attack for WTE is led by Jorja Bennett, Emma Williams and Brooke Cowan.

Players to watch for the Eagles include Teagan Ainslie, Belinda Hateley, Aisha Mansfield and Ayesha Nicholson.

The ladder-leading Golden Square is back on home turf at Gourmet Pantry Oval in Wade Street to play Marong.

Could be another day out for Bulldogs’ forwards Gabby Drage and Kira Gibbons.

The Darren Walsh-coached Golden Square kicked 24 goals in the Pride Round win against White Hills.

Players to watch in the blue and gold include Ruby Demeo, Kate Douglass, Carly Geary, Karley Hynes and Terina Pickering.

Another massive challenge for a young Marong line-up coached by Brett Carter.

Best for the Panthers in the Pride Round match against Bendigo Thunder were Steph Dawson, Tidimalo Khalo, Alicia Turner and Chelby Clark.

White Hills Demons takes on Bendigo Thunder in the Scott Street den.

In round five it was White Hills which fired up at home to beat Thunder by 106 points.

The Demons roll into this contest following a big loss to Golden Square.

Best for White Hills against the Bulldogs were Sasha Pearce, Chelsea and Acacia Edwards, and Ella Henery.

A Demons’ squad coached by Sharni Barker and Allara Jackson includes Tracey Anderson, Jorja Gibson, Kara Kane and Maiya Pearce.

Been a tough season for the Mick McInnes-coached Thunder which has worked incredibly hard to field a team in all but one match.

After forfeiting to Castlemaine in round eight, Thunder struck back to beat Marong by 45 points a week later.

Best for the Mick McInnes-coached Thunder in its second win of the season were Jasmine Alcon, Ngaire Harlan, Shasta Martion and Morgan O’Neil.

The Thunder squad bound for White Hills includes Sharlene Cole, Hollie Maher, Katrina Murphy and Rachel Salm.

The Dragons and Magpies will play at Queen Elizabeth Oval in Bendigo’s View Street from 5.30pm.

It’s an 11am start for the four matches on Sunday.

White Hills faces Kangaroo Flat on the White Hills ground in Scott Street.

Golden Square tackles Marong at Gourmet Pantry Oval in Golden Square’s Wade Street.

Eaglehawk confronts Storm at C & M Oval in Eaglehawk’s Canterbury Park.
