CASTLEMAINE’S Magpies swooped on the Maiden Gully YCW Eagles’ nest to take the premiership points in Sunday’s round eight match in the Bendigo Bank Bendigo Junior Football League’s under-16A competition.
Castlemaine led 20-81 at quarter-time of the match at Marist College Oval in Maiden Gully.
The Magpies won term two, 18-7.
Quarters three and four were controlled by Castlemaine as it added three goals in the third and four in the last.
When the final siren sounded the Magpies were up 85-36.
Jakoby Noulton capped an outstanding match with nine goals as Fred Davis kicked two and Spencer Grainger and William Lendon were also on target.
Best for the Magpies were Jakoby Noulton, Fred Davis, Charlie Cordy, Hayden Bartlett, Louis Parsons and Angus Fitzgerald.
It was a 119-point victory for Castlemaine in the under-14B match against Golden Square at Gourmet Pantry Oval in Golden Square’s Wade Street.
The Magpies led 27-6 at quarter-time and then added seven goals as they kept the Bulldogs scoressless in the second term.
Castlemaine kicked two goals in the third and six in the last on the way to a 127-8 victory.
Ted Cordy capped a best afield performance with seven goals as Xavier Britt booted four.
Other goalkickers were John Akol, Bailey Bright, Hamish Brown, Jimmy Butler, Charlie Davis, Harrison Evans, Finn Morgan and Ned McMahon.
Best for Castlemaine were Ted Cordy, Finn Morgan, Xavier Britt, Harrison Evans, Mitchell Sturgess and Darcy Minster.
Castlemaine is also fielding two under-12 teams.
The Magpies marked a 41-point victory in the under-12B match against North Bendigo at Bendigo Club Oval in North Bendigo’s Atkins Street.
Castlemaine raced to a 17-nil lead by quarter-time and was up 36-6 at the long break.
George Cordy went on to kick three goals as Sandy Atkin, Tanner James, Eliza Minster, Reuben O’Sullivan and Henry Stephens were also on target in a 57-16 win.
Best for the Magpies were George Cordy, Sid Wiese, Darcy Brown, Reuben O’Sullivan, Clancy Hendrickson and Eliza Minster.
The under-12D team from Castlemaine made its way to Tooleen to play Mount Pleasant.
It was Mount Pleasant’s young guns who won 63-29.
A list of Castlemaine’s goalkickers was not supplied.
Castlemaine’s best were Alex Pearson, George Davey, Charlie Conn, Jamie Barrett-Norton and Hamish Woodman.
Another tribe of Magpies in Maryborough is also fielding two teams in the Bendigo JFL.
Maryborough marked a nine-goal win against Strathfieldsaye in the under-14B match at Maryborough’s Princes Park.
Jack Ward led the Magpies’ attack on five goals as Charlie Wilson slotted three in a 70-54 victory.
Jordon Akdogan and Kyzer Lawton were also on target.
Best for Maryborough were Noah Thomson, Jack Ward, Jordon Akdogan, Charlie Wilson, Dean Liddicoat and Connor Day-Lock.
It was a winning double for the Magpies on their Princes Park turf as the under-12C team defeated Golden Square by 32 points.
Knox Parkinson and Manny Shepherd kicked three goals and Charlie Smith another in a 49-17 victory.
Maryborough’s best were Charlie Smith, Manny Shepherd, Charlie Bucknall, Knox Parkinson and Tommy Boyes.
