EAGLEHAWK and Castlemaine clash under the C and M Oval lights at Eaglehawk’s Canterbury Park in Friday night’s start to round 14 in the Champions IGA-backed CVFL senior women’s footy season.
The Hawks and Magpies will play from 7.30pm.
It’s fifth against second.
Both teams take winning form into this match after success in Indigenous Round.
The Hawks soared to a 14-goal win against Bendigo Thunder at Weeroona Oval last Sunday as Castlemaine ended Golden Square’s winning streak in a 40-24 victory at The Railway Hotel Oval in Castlemaine’s Camp Reserve.
When the Hawks and Magpies met in Pride Round it was Castlemaine which won 60-25 in the Borough.
The Molly Metcalf-coached Eaglehawk will be desperate to achieve an upset victory as it starts the round locked on 24 points with the fourth-placed Wedge-Tailed Eagles.
The Eagles are drawn to play Marong at Jackal Oval in Marong’s Malone Park on Sunday.
Players to watch for Eaglehawk include Monique Gavriliadis, Lucy El Hage, Kelly Mensforth, Lexie Moss, Nikeah Anderson, and captain Eliza Long.
The Jordan Cochrane-coached Castlemaine showed it’s still a strong contender for a fifth consecutive premiership in its win against Golden Square.
Best for the Magpies in their 11th win of the season were Tiahna Cochrane, Alice D’Arcy, Jemma Finning, Aisling and Maeve Tupper, and Georgia Gribble.
Three matches on Sunday will start at 1pm.
Stung by its first loss since round one, Golden Square will back on its turf at Gourmet Pantry Oval in Wade Street to play Sandhurst.
The Darren Walsh-coached Bulldogs kept the Dragons goalless in a 64-point victory in the fifth round.
Golden Square’s squad for this contest includes gun forward Gabby Drage, Gemma Roberts, Dakota Woodhatch, Kira Gibbons, Sarah Mannes, Lucy Gilbee, and co-captains Carly Geary and Liz Watkins.
There was no play for Sandhurst in Indigenous Round as Marong forfeited.
The previous round the Dragons fired up for a 26-goal win against White Hills.
Best for the maroon and blue in that match were Samantha Johnston, Grace Campbell, Isabella Ayre, Chloe Naughton, Ruby and Lily Campbell.
A Dragons’ team coached by Liam Ireland and Andrew Saladino is third in the premiership race on a 10-3 record.
White Hills will host Bendigo Thunder at the Scott Street ground.
The Demons are on the rebound from a 28-point loss to Wedge-Tailed Eagles.
In round five White Hills fired up for a 106-point win against Thunder.
The Demons’ squad for Sunday includes Tracey Anderson, Chelsea Edwards, Jorja Gibson, Ella Henery, Kara Kane, captain Sasha Pearce, and Tanika Thomson.
Sharni Barker and Allara Jackson have teamed up to coach White Hills.
A Bendigo Thunder team coached by Mick McInnes includes Stacey Barbagallo, Emily Button, Ngaire Harlan, Shasta Martion, Katrina Murphy, and captain Hollie Maher.
Marong is scheduled to play Wedge-Tailed Eagles at Jackal Oval in Marong’s Malone Park.
A Marong team coached by Brett Carter has not played since a 51-6 loss to Bendigo Thunder in Pride Round on May 31 at Weeroona Oval.
The Phil Hawkes-coached Eagles are fourth on a six-seven record in their first season in the CVFL.
