THE Mount Of Prevention (Respect) Cup will be played at Charlton and Donald in this Saturday’s 12th round in Goldacres North Central senior footy.
It’s a huge challenge for Charlton on its turf against reigning premier Calder United Lions.
The Lions scored an eight-goal win in last Saturday’s match against St Arnaud in Nullwail as Charlton was held to a tally of four behinds as Sea Lake Nandaly scored 29 goals at Sea Lake Oval.
Charlton and Calder United met in Emergency Services Round on May 23.
A Lions’ squad jointly coached by Jordan Humphreys, playing, and Tom Bickley, playing, won by 170 points.
Key players for Calder United include Justin Laird, Dale Pearce and Steven Stroobants in attack, Jordah Hughes in the centre, and Boe and Jed Bish and Oscar Madden in defence.
The Carl Thiesz-coached Charlton will look to Mason Heenan, Bailey Hooper-Dixon, Ben Lanyon, Sean O’Connor, Billy Sexton, Jed Thompson and Jackson Zagame to lead the way to a competitive showing in every quarter.
Another Mount Of Prevention (Respect) Cup match will be at Donald where the Royal Blues take on Sea Lake Nandaly.
It’s sixth against second.
Sea Lake Nandaly won the round five match against Donald by 107 points.
Huge test for Donald’s defence against the Tigers’ key targets in Max Cahoon, Adam Pattison, Thomas Cox and Billy McInnes.
The play of Dyson Bell-Warren, ruckman Charlie Campbell, Thomas Guljas and Harry Forrest in defence, Pala Kuma, Luca Rice and Bill Sam will be important to Donald’s chances.
The Royals are jointly coached by Daniel Pearce and Matt Walder.
Sea Lake Nandaly co-coaches Boyd Bailey and Wade Donnan were best afield in last Saturday’s win against Charlton.
A strong team in yellow and black includes Kane and Trent Donnan, Robin Nahas and Cruz O’Sullivan,
It’s the Saints against the Bulls as St Arnaud hosts Birchip-Watchem at Lord Nelson Park.
The Saints were beaten by Calder United last Saturday as Birchip-Watchem scored a 70-point win against Boort in the Bull pen at George Cartwright Oval in Birchip.
In round five the Ash Connick-coached Bulls beat the Saints by 49 points.
The Saints’ squad includes Daniel Gifford, Max Hungerford, Liam Loverso, Jackson Needs and Torin Petrie.
St Arnaud is jointly coached by Harley Durward and Darby Schilder.
Best for Birchip-Watchem last week were Zane Connick, Daniel Bell, Harry Cook and Jonty Randall.
Boort will be on home turf in Boort Park to take on the unbeaten Wedderburn.
In the Emergency Services Round it was Wedderburn which beat the Magpies by 73 points at Donaldson Park.
Boort’s best against Birchip-Watchem last round were Liam Bianco, Carlos Egan, Keiren Wilson and Danko Bzenic.
The Andrew Rutley-coached Magpies will have Ethan Coleman, Chaise Hird, Jake O’Flaherty, Tyson Rutley and Harry Weaver striving to break the Redbacks’ streak.
A strong attack for Wedderburn includes Tom Campbell, Tyler Curtis and Oscar Holt.
The Tom Metherell-coached Redbacks had Rory Lehmann, Tyler Curtis, Darcy Jackson and Oscar Holt lead the way to victory against Donald in the 11th round.
Wedderburn’s team to tackle the Magpies includes Danny Benaim, Jacob DeAraugo, Joe Lockhart, Zach Pallpratt and Adam Postle.
