EAGLEHAWK is perched on the fourth rung of the Champions IGA-backed CVFL senior women’s footy ladder after last weekend’s play in the 16th round.

The Molly Metcalf-coached Hawks regained their place in the top four and a finals berth as they scored a big win against Bendigo Thunder and Wedge-Tailed Eagles were beaten by Castlemaine.
After scoring four goals in the opening quarter, Eaglehawk slotted eight in the second term of their clash with Thunder at C and M Oval in Eaglehawk’s Canterbury Park.
The Two Blues added five goals in the third and six in the last to complete a 159-nil victory.
Emily Galtieri, Kelly Mensforth and Lilly Stevenson led the attack on four goals each as Caitlin Evans kicked three.
Other multiple goalkickers were Nikeah Anderson, Lucy El Hage and Molly Metcalf on two each.
Best for Eaglehawk were Caitlin Evans, Monique Gavriladis, Emily Galtieri, Lilly Stevenson, Molly Metcalf and Lucy El Hage.
Shasta Martion, Ngaire Harlan, Samantha O’Meara, Hollie Maher, Sarah Lean and Helen Barclay were best for the Mick McInnes-coached Thunder.
It was the Eagles against the Magpies as Wedge-Tailed Eagles played Castlemaine at Woodend’s Racecourse Reserve.
The Jordan Cochrane-coached Castlemaine raced to a 24-1 lead by quarter-time.
As the Eagles scored two goals in the second they kept the Magpies to a tally of four behinds.
Castlemaine won the third term, 14-nil.
The Phil Hawkes-coached Eagles won the last quarter, four-nil, but it was the reigning premier which marked a 42-21 victory.
Castlemaine captain Tiahna Cochrane led the attack on three goals.
Jorja Bennett and Demi Henderson were on target for the Eagles.
Best for the Magpies were Marguerita Murphy, Eillish Cumming, Alice D’Arcy, Paynton Jolliffe, Tiahna Cochrane and Maddi Brackenreg.
Ayesha Nicholson, Mairead Murphy, Alicia Chadwick, Brooke Cowan, Dana Raguz and Emma Williams were best for the Eagles.
Golden Square scored a 141-nil victory on the White Hills ground.
The Darren Walsh-coached Bulldogs led by 35 points at quarter-time and 62 by the long break.
After scoring six goals in the third, Golden Square matched that tally in the last.

It was a two-point thriller between Echuca United and Sandhurst in the Champions IGA-backed CVFL under-18 girls round 13 match on Sunday.
Accuracy near goal was a key factor as the Echuca United Eagles scored 4.4 (28) and Sandhurst racked up 3.8 (26) at Queen Elizabeth Oval.
Jada Dennis kicked two goals for Echuca United as Jordi Cain and Willow Clark were also on target.

Matilda Rose kicked a match-high three goals for the Kangaroos.

Emily Brown goaled for Golden Square in the third, but it was Storm which added seven goals in the second half to complete a 101-10 win.
Storm’s attack was led by Marlie Skinner on five goals as Kirra Molloy kicked three and Jorja Cunningham and Emily Neave chipped in with two each.

White Hills raced to a 20-nil lead by quarter-time and then scored four goals in the second and three in the third.
After being goalless in the opening three quarters, Castlemaine had Ava Bartlett and Aaliyah Greenwell kick goals in the last.
White Hills led 79-15 at the final siren.
