MALLEE Eagles soared to a 51-point victory at Hay in Saturday’s 13th round across the Radio 3SH-backed Central Murray senior footy competition.
The Eagles turned a 17-point deficit at quarter-time into a 33-point lead by the break after they slammed on eight goals and kept the Lions scoreless in term two.
A closely-fought third term went Mallee’s way, 22-14.
Led by Jacob O’Meara kicking seven goals and two majors by Cody Henness it was the Eagles who were up 99-48 at the final siren.
Hay had no multiple goalkickers.
Best for Mallee Eagles were Jack Landt, coach Harry Allen, Shaun Harrison, Hamish Hosking, Jacob and Zac O’Meara.
Hay’s best were Will Wolbers, Fergus and Jack Cattanach, Ned Reinhard, Angus Gardiner and Daniel Stewart.
The Mick Cattanach and James Moran-coached Lions are fifth on an eight-five record.
A dominant third quarter set up Kerang’s victory on Ultima’s ground.
Scores were 42-all at half-time.
The Brad Pay-coached Kerang kicked six goals in the third term as Ultima added 3.3.
Although Ultima won the last, 8-7, it was the Blues who celebrated a hard-fought 88-71 victory.
Zac Bozanich booted six goals for Kerang as Liam Jardine and Kane Wilson kicked two each.
Ultima’s attack was led by Andrew Dean and Corey Grey on three goals each as Ryan Featherby kicked two.
Kerang’s best were Ian Fisher, Zak Bozanich, Bohden McKnight, Jack Sullivan, Cody Makeham and Martin Kelly.
Ultima’s best were Sol Kelly, Matt Taverna, Jake Foster, Cameron Johnson, Thomas Isma and Rylee McGarry.
The Joel Donnan-coached Storm is 12th in the premiership race and faces a tough task to claim a top-eight finish to be in the finals series.
Koondrook Barham kicked on in the second half to score a 29-point win against Swan Hill at Swan Hill Recreation Reserve.
It was 49-all at half-time.
The Marcus Demaria-coached Koondrook Barham scored seven goals in third term to gain a 17-point lead.
An evenly-fought final quarter went the way of the River Raiders, 26-14.
Clayton McCartney capped a superb match with nine goals in the 119-90 victory.
Other multiple goalkickers for the KB team were Kye Attwell, Will Lake and Jack Shannon with two each.
Swan Hill’s attack was led by Zac Cordwell on five goals as Liam Thornton kicked two.
Best for Koondrook Barham were Clayton McCartney, Thomas German, Jacob Barrington, Jack Shannon, Kye Attwell and Will Lake.
Xavier Moloney, Tom Holdstock, Liam Thornton, Lane Cardenas, Matt Gillbee and Tom Smith were best for the Jason Murphy-coached Swans.
The Moulamein Swans scored a 56-point win at home against Tyntynder.
Moulamein won every quarter in a 76-20 result against the Bulldogs.
Thomas Worthley led the Swans’ attack on five goals as Haydn Slater slotted two.
Zac Denham and Josh Dwyer were on target for the Darcy Bibby-coached Tyntynder.
Best for the Swans were Billy Bowes, Thomas Worthley, Josh Wills, Morgan Turvey, Peter Costanzo and Jack Jones.
Tyntynder’s best were Tate Hulland, Harry Simpson, Mitch Kelly, Patrick Crowe, Eddy Schifferle and Sam Bull.
A Moulamein team coached by Brodie Tonkin and Hayden Dalitz is eighth on the ladder, but under pressure from Tooleybuc Manangatang, Lake Boga and Swan Hill to stay there.
Reigning premier Woorinen marked an 81-point win at Balranald’s Greenham Park.
The Tim Free-coached Tigers charged to a 51-6 lead by quarter-time.
A closely-fought second term went Woorinen’s way, 28-19.
The Brent Macleod-coached Balranald worked hard to score another three goals in the third term as the Tigers added four.
The yellow and black won the last quarter, 22-2, on the way to a 128-47 victory.
Nine goals by Sam Hilton-Joyce earnt best-on-ground honours.
The Tigers had Hugh Thompson slot three goals as Jason Iannucci and Jose Miliado kicked two each.
Balranald’s attack was led by Ben Fuller and Seb Papa on three and two goals.
Woorinen’s best were Sam Hilton-Joyce, Robert Rush, Jose Miliado, Josh Stone, Lachlan Gardner and Blake Reid.
Balranald’s best were Jack Salau, Archie Alderuccio, Brandon Gardiner, Ian Fuller, Seb Papa and Kane Agius.
Cohuna Kangas dominated their home game against Tooleybuc Manangatang to win by 15 goals.
The Jack Geary-coached Kangas kicked away to lead 55-21 by half-time.
As Cohuna added four goals in the third term it worked hard to restrict the Saints to just two behinds.
Six goals in the final term capped a 121-30 victory for the Kangas.
Tom Toma starred in Cohuna’s attack with six goals as Daniel Coates booted three and Corbin Anderson, Joel Helman and Ricky Monti added two each.
The Saints’ only multiple goalkicker was Cohen Frith on two.
Cohuna’s best were Chris Anderson, Tom Toma, Jack Geary, Kyle Monaghan, Ricky Monti and Daniel Coates.
Best for the Saints were Nick Ryan, Gareth Grant, co-coaches Robbie McComb and Nayef Hamad, along with Kallum Hazlett and Cohen Frith.
Wandella faced the might of Nyah Nyah West United.
The Bombers were on their turf in the Wandella hangar.
Quarter one went the way of NNWU, 40-16.
The Corey Daniels-coached Nyah Nyah West United then scored five goals in the second to lead 74-22 at the break.
The Demons were up by 77 points going into the final quarter and did not let up.
Eight goals in the last capped a 165-49 victory for the red and blue.
Alex Erlandson led the Demons’ attack on six goals as Kyle Armstrong and Corey Daniels kicked three each and Riley Daniels, Nic Threadgold and Liam White slotted two each.
For Wandella it was Jaspa Chamberlain who starred with five goals as Kaine O’Connell kicked two.
Best for NNWU were Ethan Saville, Brayden Bigham, Blake Larkings, Liam White, Alex Erlandson and Riley Daniels.
Nathan Boysen, Jaspa Chamberlain, coach Justin Robinson, Jack Radcliffe, Tim Robinson and Darcy Ramage were Wandella’s best.
Lake Boga dominated play at Murrabit.
The Dean Helmers-coached Lake Boga scored 169 points and kept the Blues to just one major.
Braden Padmore kicked 10 goals in the 169-14 result to earn best-on-ground honours.
Other multiple goalkickers for the Magpies were Rex Hickman, four; Codie Anderson and Jayden Lonergan, three; and Nathaniel Holmes-Brown, two.
Adam Thomson was on target for Murrabit in the second quarter.
Best for Lake Boga were Braden Padmore, Marty Parsons, Kamen Ogilvie, Codie Anderson, Xavier Sherlock and Rex Hickman.
Sam Copland, Ryan Harvey, Tomas Boustead, James Russo, Adam Thomson and Mitch Laursen were best for a Murrabit team coached by Rick Ladson, non-playing, and Jack Shannahan, playing.
