GUN full-forwards Lachie Sharp and Jhye Baddeley-Kelly were in hot form in big wins by Bridgewater and Pyramid Hill in Saturday’s 16th round in Bendigo Bank Loddon Valley FNL senior footy.
A week after he kicked his 100th of the season, Sharp’s tally is now 125 after an outstanding performance in Bridgewater’s win at home against Mitiamo.
It was a ruthless performance by the Mean Machine against the Superoos.
Bridgewater powered to a 65-nil lead by quarter-time and then added 11 goals in the second.
Quarter two was to be Mitiamo’s best as it scored three goals.
By half-time Bridgewater was up 133-19.
The ladder leaders did not let up in terms of intensity at the contest.
A formidable attack led by Sharp dined out against the Mitiamo defence.
Bridgewater slammed on 12 goals in the third and nine in the last.
At the final siren the Mean Machine led 271-38.
Sharp capped an incredible match with 25 goals.
Other multiple goalkickers were Logan Moss, five; Josh Martyn, three; and Luke Ellings.
Mitiamo’s attack was led by Bryce Laird on two.
Best for Bridgewater were Lachie Sharp, Jack Milligan, Luke Ellings, Jack Neylon, Darcy Wood and Bailey Cossar.
Kobe Galvin, Bryce Laird, Jayden Matthews, Scott Baldwin, Joey Mizzi and Zach Morrison were best for the Luke Lougoon-coached Mitiamo.
Goal 13 by Jhye Baddeley-Kelly in Pyramid Hill’s clash with Bears Lagoon-Serpentine was his 100th in his debut in the Loddon Valley.
The Bulldogs went on to win 154-47 as Baddeley-Kelly capped another great match with 15 goals at Pyramid Hill’s Mitchell Park.
Will Quinlivan slotted three goals for the red, white and blue.
Was a tough afternoon for the Bears’ forwards in which Miggy Podosky led the way on two goals.
Jhye Baddeley-Kelly, Tom Downie, Isaac Brill, Will Quinlivan, Gavin James and Lachlan Sidebottom were best for the Jarrod Fitzpatrick-coached Bulldogs.
Best for the Bears were Callum Draper, coach Jake Wilkinson, Nathan Twigg, Tyler Miles and Tanner Rayner.
Maiden Gully YCW Eagles fought from five points down at the start of the last quarter to mark a two-point win on Inglewood’s turf at Centre State Scaffolding Oval.
Inglewood charged to a 20-8 lead by quarter-time, but the Eagles struck back to score 3.3 as the Blues added 1.5 in the second.
Two points separated the teams at the long break.
As the Jackson Hood-coached Inglewood scored 2.3 in the third the Eagles kept in touch by slotting two majors.
The Eagles won the last, 14-7, to clinch a 55-53 victory.
Tye Bedford and Ed Crisp led the Eagles’ attack on two goals each.
Inglewood’s leading goalkickers were Bregon Cotchett and Charles Ingham on two each.
Best for the Eagles were Mitch Hill, Tye Bedford, Isaac Neretlis, Mitch Whitham, Daniel Russell and Lewis Pigdon.
Inglewood’s best were Gabe Nevins, Tom Kennedy, Lachlan Ford, Bregon Cotchett, Tyler Murphy and Charlie Aitken.
The Maiden Gully YCW Eagles are jointly coached by Shawn Filo, non-playing, and Angus Monfries, playing.
Macorna overcame a half-time deficit of nine points to claim a home win against Calivil United by 11 points.
The Sam Maher-coached Calivil United Demons put the heat on the Tigers in the first half.
By the long break the red and blue led 39-30.
Calivil United kept working hard and scored two goals in the third as the Tigers added 2.4.
Desperate to avoid an upset defeat the Macorna team lifted in the final term.
The Tigers charged clear to score five goals as the Demons added 2.4.
At the siren Macorna was up 78-67.
Kieran Foley capped a best-afield performance with four goals as Seb Erharter slotted three and Xavier Wishart kicked two.
The Demons’ attack was led by Henry McCarthy, Rhys Lourie and Corey Walters on two each.
Macorna’s best were Kieran Foley, Matt Colak, Jackson Hall, Laing Whinfield, Will Canham and Fergus Bear.
Riley Walsh, Tyler Rasmussen, Will Allan, Liam Stephens, Josh Connolly and Rhys Lourie were best for the Demons.
Newbridge could not halt reigning premier Marong charging to a 15-goal win at Deepcore Drilling Oval in Newbridge’s Riverside Park.
The Jayden Cordy-coached Newbridge worked hard to score seven goals in the first half as Marong led 54-44 at the break.
In the third the James Flaherty-coached Panthers added four goals to open a 34-point buffer going into the final term.
Marong then slammed on 10 goals in the last to complete a 143-52 victory.
Ray McNamara and Ryley Taylor led the Panthers’ attack on six and five goals as Jimmy Gadsden, Shaun Knott and Wil Thomson kicked two each.
Leading goalkicker for Newbridge was Zaiyden Richards with two.
Best for the Panthers were Jimmy Gadsden, Ray McNamara, Jai Gretgrix, Richard Tibbett, Ryley Taylor and Jack McCaig.
Newbridge’s best were Kobe Friswell, Dylan Lloyd, Ricky Cathie, Jack McInerney, James Blood and Caleb Sanders.

And in the netbal action, MITIAMO outplayed Bridgewater to win Saturday’s round 16 match in Bendigo Bank Loddon Valley FNL A-grade netball by 32 goals.
The Jen Wilson-coached Mitiamo was in control for a lot of the contest on Bridgewater’s court.
In pursuit of an A-grade premiership hat-trick, Mitiamo showed it’s going to be incredibly tough to beat in a 77-45 result against the Mean Machine.
Defeat put the Carly Wild and Lou Dupuy-coached Bridgewater to the third rung on the ladder at two rounds to go in the home-and-away series.
Newbridge moved to second in the premiership race after a 13-goal win against Marong at Deepcore Drilling Oval in Newbridge’s Riverside Park.
The Hayley Martiniello-coached Newbridge answered a strong challenge from the Panthers to net a 58-45 victory.
A Marong team jointly coached by Bridget Willox and Bianca Garton is just two points clear of the sixth-placed Pyramid Hill.
Runner-up last season, Pyramid Hill stayed in the race for a top-five finish as it scored a 53-33 win on its court at Mitchell Park against Bears Lagoon-Serpentine.
The Erin Varker-coached Bears worked hard against an opponent which had plenty to play for.
The Bulldogs’ line-up jointly coached by Chelsea Emmerson, Amber Dingwall and Darci Tierney will face Macorna, away; and Newbridge, home; in the last two rounds of the home-and-away series.
Inglewood’s win tally is now 10 ½ after a 69-24 result at home against Maiden Gully YCW Eagles at Centre State Scaffolding Oval.
The Dani O’Toole-coached Blues played a slick brand of netball through all thirds of the court.
Was a tough afternoon for the Christie Griffiths-coached Maiden Gully YCW which has marked three wins this season.
It was the Tigers against the Demons as Macorna hosted Calivil United.
A Calivil United team coached by Annie Blow and Alex Ingram won 59-42 against Macorna which is in its debut season in the Loddon Valley competition.
The Tigers who are coached by Brooke Allison play Pyramid Hill, home; and Bridgewater, away; in the last two rounds.
