THE clash of top teams Sandhurst Navy and Sandhurst White highlighted the weekend’s 14th round in the Bendigo Bank Bendigo Junior Football League’s under-15 girls competition.
An all-Sandhurst match was played on Sunday at Ewing Park off Bendigo’s Williamson Street.
A 29-20 victory for Navy meant it jumped to top spot on the ladder as White went to the second rung.
Nellie English led Navy’s attack on two goals as Mila Chapman and Zara Grieve were also on target.
Goalkickers for White were Elsie Gretgrix and Stella Rooke.
Sandhurst Navy’s best were Ahlyssa Moefaauo, Zara Grieve, Poppy Carter, Shylah Whittle, Eliza Chapman and Nellie English.
Best for Sandhurst White were Macaila Bannan, Perry Westley, Zali Barry, Elsie Gretgrix, Harper McDonald and Stella Rooke.
Sandhurst moved to the third rung on the under-16A ladder after a 26-point won on Rochester’s turf at Windridge Oval.
The Dragons led 31-20 at half-time on the way to a 54-28 win.
A list of Sandhurst’s goalkickers was not supplied.
Angus McInerney, Louis Travaglia, Corben Bell, Archer Horan, Fletcher Stevenson and Liam Hubble were Sandhurst’s best.
Sandhurst marked an 86-point win against Maiden Gully YCW Eagles in the under-14A match at Marist College in Maiden Gully.
The Dragons led 40-nil at quarter-time and then added two goals in the second term, five in the third, and two in the last.
At the final siren Sandhurst was up 103-17.
The Dragons’ attack was led by Xavier Mulqueen on three goals as Quinn Casey, Jack Holland, Harry Rees and Elijah Willits kicked two each.
Sam Davie, Angus Pitcher, Cale Polson and Josh Prowse were also on target for the maroon and blue.
Best for the Dragons were Elijah Willits, Callen Harrington, Henry Cooney, Josh Prowse, Jaxon Blacker and Jack Holland.
Sandhurst fought for a one-goal win against Maryborough on the Magpies’ nest at Princes Park.
The Maryborough team led 22-11 at half-time, but Sandhurst worked hard to be within eight points going into the last quarter.
The Dragons added 1.8 and kept the Magpies scoreless in the final term to complete a 31-25 victory.
Best for the Dragons were Ethan Schoder, Amos Edwards, Jack Skinner, Miller Fletcher, Sebastian Doak and Murphy Wallace.
The 15th and final round in the home-and-away series will be played across next weekend.
