THERE are 15 clubs represented across this weekend’s start to the Bendigo Bank Bendigo Junior Football League’s finals series.
Clubs which are big and not-so-big feature in matches to be played at Harry Trott Oval in Neale Street, Kennington; at Marist College Bendigo Oval in Maiden Gully; and at Bendigo Club Oval in North Bendigo’s Atkins Street.
First-up will be the under-12 Girls in Friday night’s matches at Harry Trott Oval in Kennington.
South Bendigo Red is the first of six teams from the club to compete when the under-12 Girls play Golden Square in the elimination final.
Rochester Tigers take on Eaglehawk Hawks in the qualifying final of the under-12 Girls competition.
The winner will meet St Francis Green in the second semi-final.
The Bloods, Blues, Bulldogs, Demons, Dragons, Eagles, Kangaroos, Hawks, Magpies, Storm and Tigers will all feature across the weekend.
Matches for the under-16A teams will be on Sunday.
Strathfieldsaye will take on Sandhurst in the second semi-final at Bendigo Club Oval in North Bendigo’s Atkins Street from 3.10pm.
In the first of the grading matches, Strathfieldsaye scored a 92-19 win against Sandhurst at Triple M Park in Tannery Lane.
Storm surged to a 53-13 win against the Dragons at the same venue in the 10th round.
The winner will tackle Golden Square in the second semi-final.
White Hills and South Bendigo will fight to stay in the flag race when they the contest the elimination final from 1.25pm in North Bendigo.
In the third round of grading it was South Bendigo which won on the White Hills ground in Scott Street by 49 points.
The Demons struck back to beat the Bloods by three goals at White Hills in round nine.
It will be Golden Square against South Bendigo in the under-16B first semi-final to be played from 3.10pm on Sunday at Harry Trott Oval.
When these teams met in round nine it was Golden Square which scored a 79-point victory on its turf at Gourmet Pantry Oval in Wade Street.
Finals for the under-15 Girls will be played in Maiden Gully and North Bendigo.
The elimination final features White Hills against Golden Square from 3.10pm at Marist College Oval in Maiden Gully.
When these teams met in round 11 it was Golden Square which marked a six-goal win on the Wade Street ground.
Sandhurst White will play Strathfieldsaye in the qualifying final on North Bendigo’s ground in Atkins Street.
Just two points separated the teams in round two when Storm won 20-18 at Ewing Park.
In round 12 it was Sandhurst White which scored a 44-4 victory on Strathfieldsaye’s turf at Triple M Park.
The winner of Sunday’s match will play Sandhurst Navy in the second semi-final.
