HUNTLY scored an upset victory against Mount Pleasant in Saturday’s fourth round of the Bendigo Bank Heathcote District Football Netball League’s senior footy season.
The Hawks led 37-21 at half-time of the clash at Specialist Breeders Australia Oval in Huntly’s Strauch Reserve.
In the crucial third quarter it was Huntly which kicked away to score 5.1 to 3.3.
As the Semmel brothers, Luke and Ryan won plenty of contests it was the Hawks who outran and outworked the Blues.
Huntly went on to record a 13.12 (90) to 8.7 (55) victory.
Jaydon Cowling and Jacob Greenwood led the Hawks attack on three goals apiece.
Ben Weightman kicked four goals for Mount Pleasant.
Best for the Stacy Fiske-coached Huntly included Luke Jones, Josh Harris, Brandon Dimech and Jay McDonald.
Liam Collins, Dale Young, Billy Mahony, Fraser Cole and Zebb Murrell were best for Mounts.
Closest margin in the other three games was 98 as White Hills won at home against Heathcote.
Jed Lamb kicked a league-best of 13 goals for the 2021 season as White Hills outgunned Heathcote, 24.11 (155) to 7.15 (57) at Tint-A-Car Oval in Scott Street.
The Saints worked hard to be within 10 points, 16-6 at quarter-time and were down by just a goal at half-time.
From then on it was the Sam Kerridge-coached White Hills which dominated play.
The Demons scored nine goals in the third and another nine in the last.
White Hills captain Mitch Dole booted three goals and Jack Fallon also made his way from half-back to boot two goals.
Mitch McLean booted two majors for Heathcote.
Best for White Hills were Jed Lamb, Patrick Eefting, Jack Fallon, Kaiden Skelton, Mitch Dole and John Ikupu.
On a tough day for Heathcote, Tom Pain, Matt Mikic, Jake Condon, Louis Piccolo, Joseph Langord and Billy Price were best.
There were 11 goalkickers for Lockington Bamawm United in a 194-48 win against Elmore on the Cats turf at Nichol Trading Oval in Lockington.
LBU scored 8.1 in the first term and did not let up as it added nine goals in the second, six in the third and eight in the last.
Lachlan Collins kicked seven goals as Thomas Leech, six; Anthony McMahon, five; and Jarod Bacon, four, joined in the spree.
James Harney booted two goals for the Bloods.
Best for the Cats were Leech, Jarod Bacon, Jesse Collins, McMahon, Liam Main and James McPhee.
Elmore’s best were Ben Makepeace, Joe Harney, Zack Holmberg, Matt Gilmour and James Harney.
Leitchville Gunbower was held to just two goals in its clash with Colbinabbin on the Bombers’ ground at Degroot Roof Painting Oval in Leitchville.
The Grasshoppers led 63-8 at half-time and added 15 goals in the final hour to win 24.16 (160) to 2.4 (16).
Jed Brain kicked six goals as Ryan Hon, four; Lochlan Sirrett and Stephen Tuohey, three, were also on target.
There were a dozen goalkickers for Colbo.
Best for the Grasshoppers were Brain, Tuohey, Lochlan Sirrett, Ben Barton, Lachlan Ezard and Hon.
Will Brereton, Nathan McLellan, Tom Brereton and James Barratt worked hard for the Bombers.
North Bendigo had the bye.

Heathcote tackles North Bendigo at Pigeon Park in Heathcote’s Barrack Reserve.
Mount Pleasant clashes with Leitchville Gunbower at Toolleen.
Lockington Bamawm United has the bye.
