Bulls run to victory on Royals’ turf at Donald

BIRCHIP Watchem fought for a one-goal victory on Donald’s turf in Saturday’s match of the day to mark the 10th round of the Goldacres North Central Football League’s senior footy season.

A highly-anticipated clash between the Royals and Bulls did not disappoint.

Birchip Watchem led 16-7 at quarter-time before Donald took control of the second to win it 3.3 to 1.4 and lead 28-26 by the long break.

The Trevor Ryan-coached Bulls then slammed on 5.4 to 2.3 in the vital third quarter.

Donald won the last term, 25-14, but it was Birchip Watchem which led 74-68 at the final siren.

Daniel Castellano led the Bulls’ attack on three goals as seven team-mates chipped in with a major.

Donald’s leading goalkickers were Blake Grant, four, and Will Burke, three.

Best for the Bulls were Clayton Hinkley, Lochy Sirett, Elliot Jaeschke, Lachlan Ryan, Daniel Castellano and Kyle Stevens.

Donald’s best were Brody Haddow, Ryan Hards, Darcy Harrison, James Wall, Samuel Griffiths and Blake Grant.

 

After an evenly-fought first half, Boort kicked clear of Charlton in the third term at Boort Park.

The Magpies led 18-12 at quarter-time and 26-19 by the long break.

The Andy Hawker-coached Boort upped the intensity in the third term to score 3.2 to a goal.

Both teams finished the contest well as Boort scored 4.3 and the Navies added 4.1.

Brodie Leonard-Shannon kicked three goals for Boort as Jarrod Starr added two in a 73-50 victory.

Accuracy was a highlight for the Andy Nisbet-coached Charlton as it scored 8.2.

Kris Clifford was in a great touch as he booted five goals for the Navies.

Boort’s best were Levi Moss, Matt Chisari, Jesse Muscatello, Nathan Twigg, Keiren Wilson and Ben Knight.

Best for Charlton were Kade Blow, Aaron Walklate, Bailey Kemp, Cobi Fitzpatrick, Kris Clifford and Charles Patullo.

Four-goal hauls by Tom Campbell and Jordan Rosengren were big factors in Wedderburn’s win on St Arnaud’s turf at Lord Nelson Park.

 

The Sam Barnes-coached Redbacks scored 6.6 to 1.1 in the second after scores were locked on 16-all at quarter-time.

St Arnaud never stopped trying as it was outscored by just eight points, 27-19 in the third, and a point, 15-14, in the final term.

Jake Hicks led the Saints’ attack on three goals.

Best for the Redbacks were Jordan Rosengren, Joe Lockhart, Jaran McKay, Jordan Hargreaves, Tom Campbell and Hamish Winter-Irving.

Bailey Durward, Matthew Goode, Kurtis Torney, Jacob Tillig and Jake Hicks played well for the Torin Petrie-coached Saints.

 

Sea Lake Nandaly Tigers won every quarter on the way to a 101-41 victory against Wycheproof-Narraport in Tigerland.

The Boe Bish-coached Demons worked hard to be level on 1.4 at quarter-time before the Tigers added 56 points to 15 across the second and third terms.

Wycheproof-Narraport’s highest scoring quarter was the last as it added 16, but the Tigers tallied up 35 to complete a 10-goal victory.

The competition’s leading goalkicker, Billy McInnes added three as did Justin Ellis, while Trent Donnan and Austin Mertz added two apiece.

Leader of the Demons’ attack was Cody Green on three.

Best for the Tigers were Trent Donnan, Austin Mertz, Brody Weir, Matt Elliott, Wade Donnan and Luke Martin.

Gedd Hommelhoff, Spencer Allan, Jack McHutchison, Cody Green and Damien Horbury played well for the Demons.
