ULTIMA withstood a spirited first-half challenge from Wandella to win Saturday’s round six clash in the Golden Rivers senior footy action.
The Kangaroos led 12-8 at quarter-time and 28-17 by the main break at Wandella.
In the third it was Ultima which added 5.1 to 2.1 as Mitch and Tyler Makepeace and Thomas Bull played key roles in the Roos’ charge.
The unbeaten ladder-leaders added 2.6 to nil in the last to complete a 77-30 victory.
Jamie Nicholas led Ultima’s attack on four goals as Mitch Makepeace and Jye Purtill chipped in with two.
Wandella’s attack was led by Michael Rowe on three goals.
Best for Ultima included Will Nelson, Darcy Farrell and Jacob Schaper.
Tim Robinson, Jack Radcliffe, Declan Hogg, Russell Rich, Michael Rowe and Adam Ward played well for the Bombers.
Hay scored a 50-point win against Murrabit in the Lions’ den at Hay Recreation Reserve.
The Lions led 21-7 at quarter-time and then added 3.3 to two goals in the second for a 23-point buffer by half-time.
Declan Watson was in top form with seven goals for Hay as Fergus Cattanach added two.
There were no multiple goalkickers for Murrabit.
Best for Hay were Declan Watson, Dean Aylett, Bentley Murphy, Luke Arandt and Jeromy West.
Dustin Blake, Jono and Ed Aujard, Luke Murphy, Sean Gillen and Nathan Henry were best for the Blues.
Six goals by Amos Farrell and five by Blake Azzopardi were among the highs in a big win by Moulamein against Macorna.
The Swans led 31-13 at quarter-time of the match at Moulamein and then slammed on 8.4 to 3.3 in the second.
As Farrell and Azzopardi capped off or set up goals, Moulamein went on to win 155-87.
Other multiple goalkickers for the Swans were Andy Silva and Khy Stovell, three; and Daniel Aarsman, two.
Macorna’s attack was led by Troy Parker and Lachlan Ritchie on three goals apiece.
Best for Moulamein were Amos Farrell, Luke Shannon, Blake Azzopardi, Ryan Atkins, Cody Storm and Zach Prentice.
Nick Ingleton, Josh Walters, Liam Roberts, Jack Featherby, Will Bentley and Chris Wilson played well for the Tigers.
