CMFNL Round 14 Netball Review | Swans win duel with Eagles

SWAN Hill won a closely-fought A-grade netball contest with Mallee Eagles in Saturday’s 14th round of the Central Murray FNL season.

The Swans led 14-13 at quarter-time and 30-24 by the main break.

In the third was when Swan Hill gained a sizeable break as it won the term, 17-13.

Although the Eagles fought back strongly to outscore the Swans in the final term, 15-12, it was Swan Hill which claimed a 59-52 victory.

Goalers for Swan Hill were Zoe Morris, 33; and Ingrid Condely, 26.

The Eagles’ attack was led by Kellie Walker, 28; and Megan Thorneycroft, 24.

Balranald scored a six-goal win against Woorinen.

Scores were 13-all at quarter-time before the Kangaroos won the second term, 12-5.

The Tigers clawed the margin back to six at a quarter to go.

Both teams added 10 goals in the last as the Roos won 47-41.

Balranald’s attack was led by Ella Mirtschin, 36; and Jess Parry, 11.

Tayla Bennett scored 34 goals for the Tigers as Emily Siely added seven.

After scores were 18-all at half-time, Nyah Nyah West United won the third term, 10-7 against Kerang.

The Demons did not let up the heat in the last as they scored nine goals and held the Blues to a tally of seven.

At the final whistle, Nyah Nyah West United led 39-32.

Kerang’s attack was led by Courtney Robertson with 27 goals.

Stephanie Henson scored 17 for the Demons.

Tyntynder charged to a 73-34 win against Koondrook Barham.

The Bulldogs won the opening two terms, 16-11 and 20-6.

A 19-goal lead by the long break was 39 by the last.

Kimberley Calvert scored a match-high 37 goals for Tyntynder as Kelsey Rowe added 36.

Goalers for Koondrook Barham were Emily Fasham, 25; and Tatum Boyd, 9.

Cohuna, Lake Boga, and Tooleybuc Manangatang all had a bye.

Tyntynder and Lake Boga clash at Alan Garden Reserve in Swan Hill.

Nyah Nyah West United faces Swan Hill at Nyah Recreation Reserve.

Mallee Eagles tackle Tooleybuc Manangatang at Lalbert.

Balranald is home at Greenham Park to play Koondrook Barham.

Woorinen has the bye.
