The Champions IGA Central Victorian Football League has confirmed it’s 2024 fixtures for their Seniors and Under 18 Girls competitions.
The CVFL announced the introduction of Under 18 Girls from the Bendigo Junior Football League into their League late in 2023, creating a talent pathway for the best female talent in our region.
The seven teams competing in the CVFL Under 18’s are Castlemaine, Eaglehawk, Golden Square, Sandhurst, Strathfieldsaye, White Hills, and Woorinen.
In addition to the inclusion of Under 18’s, the CVFL has also added three new Clubs into the Senior competition, with Marong, Sandhurst and White Hills joining for the 2024 Season and after losing Strathfieldsaye, will have nine Clubs represented.
The confirmation of the 2024 fixture is an exciting milestone as teams continue their pre-season preparations.
Kicking off on the weekend of April 5-7, Round 1 of the Seniors fixture is headlined but a battle of the newcomers with Marong hosting White Hills. While other League newcomer, Sandhurst will put their hard work to the test against reigning Premier, Castlemaine.
Round 2 will see a Grand Final re-match between Castlemaine and Woorinen headlining Pride Round which is an annual CVFL tradition.
Also beginning on April 5-7, the early rounds of the Under 18’s will give teams an opportunity to get a guide on how they are shaping up.
CVFL Seniors and Under 18’s take a League-wide bye for the annual Interleague challenge against AFL Goulburn Murray (Shepparton) and AFL North East Border (Albury-Wodonga) which in 2024 will be hosted in Bendigo.
A general bye will be served during school holidays on July 5-7.
The CVFL will also celebrate Indigenous Round in Round 13 on July 12-14 and Pink Round in Round 16 on 2-4 August.
While the final round of the season, Round 18, will take place of August 16-18 with the Grand Finals scheduled for September 6.
