BJFL Round 3 Review – Quarry Hill, North Bendigo & Rochester

Smaller clubs put in big performances

THREE of the smaller clubs in the Bendigo Bank Bendigo Junior Football League put in big performances across the weekend’s third round of the season.

Quarry Hill marked a 15-goal win against Maiden Gully YCW Eagles (2) in the under-12 Mixed grading match.

The Demons were in hot form on the Eagles’ turf at Maiden Gully.

Oliver Lalor kicked three goals as Elijah Cahill, Isaac Ely, Saul Francis booted two apiece in 101-9 victory.

Best for the Demons were Fraser Dullard, Isaac Ely, Elijah Cahill, Harvey McMillan, Oliver Lalor and Nina Garden.

North Bendigo Red drew its under-12 Mixed grading match against Maiden Gully YCW (3) at Marist College.

Scores were locked on 27-all when the final siren sounded.

Goalkickers for the Bulldogs were Jye Benbow, Chaise Cook and Harrison Wilson.

Best for Red were Harry LeFevre, Noah Ryan, Oliver Ring, Chaise Cook, Blake Woodfield and Jye Benbow.

North Bendigo Blue played South Bendigo (3) at Bendigo Club Oval in North Bendigo’s Atkins Street.

The Bloods marked a 65-38 win against the Bulldogs.

Charlie Burzacott kicked two goals for North Bendigo Blue as Rhiley Carter, Jason Kerr, Callum Thompson and Aiden West added a goal each.

The Tiger cubs from Rochester roared to a one-point victory against St Francis Green in the under-12 Girls match at Enterprise Oval in Strathfieldsaye’s Tannery Lane.

Rochester fought from being down by 11 points at half-time to win 27-26.

Goalkickers for the Tigers were Alida Beer, Mila Cottam, Ashlea Duckworth and Jordi Howe.

Best for the yellow and black were Jordi Howe, Alida Beer, Mila Cottam, Ashlea Duckworth, Maya Riordan and Milly-Jane Stafrace.

In under-14 Mixed grading, Rochester was on home turf at Windridge Oval to take on Marong.

The Tigers raced to a 40-nil lead by quarter-time and kicked on for a 95-22 victory.

Macore Dickinson kicked five goals for Rochester as Harvey Keating added two.

Best for the Tigers were Harvey Keating, Zac Morgan, Harry Rasmussen, Makore Dickinson, Corey Pangrazio and Reno Mountjoy.

In under-16 Boys grading, Rochester charged to a 40-nil lead by quarter-time of the match against Kangaroo Flat at Windridge Oval.

The Tigers went on to record a 125-28 victory.

Jimmy Otto was in superb form as he kicked eight goals in a best-on-ground performance for Rochester.

Other multiple goalkickers for the yellow and black were Kade Pearse, three, and Morgan Boyack, two.

Best for Rochester were Jimmy Otto, Jackson Morgan, Darby Martin, Cale James, Sam Seabrook and Kade Pearse.
