BFNL Netball Preview | Round 11

Hawks pile on pressure against South Bendigo

EAGLEHAWK will be eyeing an upset win against South Bendigo in this Saturday’s 11th round of A-grade netball in the Bendigo Bank Bendigo Football Netball League season.

The Hawks and Bloods will meet on the court at Queen Elizabeth Oval.

After a home-court win of 25 goals against Strathfieldsaye at Canterbury Park last round, Eaglehawk’s confidence will be high.

Defeating the Bloods will not be an easy task.

The round two match between these teams on Good Friday in Eaglehawk ended in a 54-33 win for South Bendigo.

Chloe Langley scored 41 goals and goal attack Emily Cossar was in top form for the Jannelle Hobbs-coached Bloods.

In last Saturday’s play, South Bendigo won 79-28 at Golden Square.

The unbeaten Sandhurst makes the trek to Triple M Park in Tannery Lane to take on Strathfieldsaye Storm.

Sandhurst showed it will be tough to stop in its bid for a fourth consecutive A-grade premiership as it won last Saturday’s showdown with the skilful Gisborne line-up, 53-37.

The round two match between the Dragons and Storm ended in a 72-28 win for Sandhurst.

Goalshooter or goal attack, Kelsey Meade played her 150th match for Sandhurst as Imogen Sexton, Sophie Shoebridge and Ruby Turner starred.

It’s the all-Magpies clash as Castlemaine hosts Maryborough at Camp Reserve.

Just four goals separated these teams when they met at Princes Park in round two.

In last Saturday’s play, Castlemaine won 49-31 at Kyneton, while Maryborough was beaten, 75-39 by the slick Kangaroo Flat combination.

Both teams are on the rebound from defeat, but the Tarryn Rymer-coached Gisborne cannot afford a slip-up as it fights to hold third spot.

The round two match on Good Friday ended in a 65-31 win for Gisborne under the Kyneton Showgrounds lights.

Kangaroo Flat takes on Golden Square on the Roos’ court at Dower Park.

The Jayden Cowling-coached Roos won the Easter Saturday match with Square at Fur Life Oval in Wade Street by 69 goals.

A powerful Roos’ line-up includes Lou Dupuy, Ingrid Hopkins, Abbey and Ashley Ryan, and Chelsea Sartori.
