SOUTH Bendigo surged clear of Strathfieldsaye in the last quarter to win Saturday’s A-grade netball match in the 15th round of the Bendigo Bank Bendigo FNL season.

The Bloods and Storm played on Strathfieldsaye’s court at Triple M Park in Tannery Lane.

A top-five berth was up for grabs as both teams were on six wins, seven defeats and a draw.

Previous meeting between the teams in round six ended 53-all at South Bendigo’s home in Kennington’s Harry Trott Oval.

It was another high-scoring shoot-out on Saturday.

The Steph Freemantle-coached Storm started well to lead 14-12 at quarter-time.

South Bendigo hit back to win the second term, 18-11.

It was a goal-for-goal for a lot of the third stanza in which Strathfieldsaye added 16 goals and the Bloods scored 13.

A two-goal lead for the Jannelle Hobbs-coached South Bendigo at the start of the final term was nine by the end after the red and white kicked clear.

An 18-9 goal term sealed a 61-52 victory for South Bendigo.
