Bloods’ pressure a key to victory

PRESSURE played a big part in South Bendigo A defeating Golden Square Blue in the weekend’s first round of under-16 Boys grading in the Bendigo Junior Football League season.

The Bloods and Bulldogs met on Sunday at Kennington’s Harry Trott Oval.

Down by margins of eight, 10 and seven points at the quarter-time breaks, South Bendigo’s pressure and run went up a noth in the final term.

The Bloods scored four goals and kept the Dogs to a tally of 1.3 to complete a 76-68 victory.

Harrison Jackman, Max Kornmann and Jack Troy kicked two goals each for the red and white.

Best for the Bloods were Max Kornmann, Harrison Jackman, Lachlan Magee, Rylan Newman, Sonny Cluff and Harry Warne.

The Bloods’ B team took on Golden Square Gold in under-16 grading.

Gold raced to a 31-7 lead by quarter-time and held margins of 15 and 25 points at the next breaks in the game.

At the final siren the Bulldogs led 16.8 (104) to 8.10 (58).

Lachlan Bray kicked three goals for South Bendigo as Jacobi Kramer added two.

Best for the Bloods were Lachlan Bray, Jacobi Kramer, Ted Coombs, Eamon White, Harper Fitzallen and Cade McKay.

In under-14 Mixed grading, South Bendigo A played Golden Square in the Bloods’ home at Harry Trott Oval.

The Bulldogs won 71-35.

Best for South Bendigo were Noah Poole, Blaine Anderson, Hser yu say Way, Paw Si, Miller Slattery and Wesley Scholtes.

South Bendigo B scored a big win against Eaglehawk B.

The young Bloods won 21.15 (141) to 1.3 (9).

Ryan Hinck kicked five goals as Will Elms added four.

Other multiple goalkickers were Alex Obudzinski and Ryan Packer on two.

Grading for under-12 Mixed teams was on Saturday at Mercy Junortoun Sports Precinct.

South Bendigo (1) marked a 69-14 win against White Hills Black.

Jesse Cox, Jed King and Hardy McClure kicked two goals each.

Best for the Bloods were Cael White, Jesse Cox, Toby Eddy, Archie Coburn, Hadley Galea and Jed King.

South Bendigo (2) could not stop a red-hot Quarry Hill Demons which raced to a 139-nil victory.

Best for the red and white were Hunter Clementson, Hunter Pearce, Ben Baker, Navarre Blake, Calvin Jones-Moore and Eliza Obudzinski.

South Bendigo (3) scored a 61-point win against Mount Pleasant.

The Bloods scored 12.11 (83) to 3.4 (22) as Harrison Adams, Thomas Dunn and Max Harper kicked two goals.

Max Harper, Thomas Dunn, Hunter Tomlins, Harrison Adams and Jed Hardinge played well against the Blues.

Matches were also played at California Gully, Triple M Park and Enterprise Oval in Strathfieldsaye, Marist College in Maiden Gully, Golden Square, Huntly’s Strauch Reserve, Marong’s Malone Park, and Kangaroo Flat’s Dower Park.
