Many clubs represented as junior finals kick-off

THERE will be 16 clubs represented across this weekend’s start to the finals in the Bendigo Bank-backed Bendigo Junior Football League’s 2022 season.

Players from as far afield as Castlemaine, Woorinen, Maryborough, Heathcote, Strathfieldsaye, Huntly, Marong, Kyneton, Maiden Gully, White Hills and Kangaroo Flat will be in action this Sunday.

Eaglehawk, Golden Square, Sandhurst, South Bendigo, and St Therese’s all have teams to compete in the first week of the finals series.

There were some closely-fought contests across last weekend’s 15th round to complete the home and away season.

Finals action kicks off next weekend at various grounds in and around Bendigo, and further afield.

First semi-finals for under-12A, under-12B, under-12D and under-12E  will be played on Sunday.

The winner advances to a preliminary final while it’s season over for the beaten team.

In the under-12A first semi, Strathfieldsaye takes on White Hills from 9.15am at Maryborough’s Princes Park.

Maiden Gully YCW Eagles have home ground advantage at Marist College Bendigo for the under-12B match against Maryborough from 12.10pm.

 

Teams in under-12C meet in elimination and qualifying finals on Sunday.

South Bendigo and Kangaroo Flat will contest the qualifying final from 9.30am at Marist College Bendigo’s oval two.

The elimination final at Marist College Bendigo from 10.50am features St Therese’s and Heathcote on oval two.

The under-12D first semi-final on Sunday pits Marong against Maiden Gully YCW Eagles from 9am at Marong’s Malone Park.

Kyneton Tigers take on Strathfieldsaye in the under-12E first semi-final on Sunday at Maryborough’s Princes Park from 2.05pm.

South Bendigo and Strathfieldsaye clash in the under-14 seniors first semi-final from 12.05pm on Sunday at Marong’s Malone Park.

 

Qualifying finals and elimination finals for under-14 reserves one will be played on Sunday.

Huntly Hawks and Sandhurst will contest the qualifying final from 9am at Marist College Bendigo.

The elimination final at Malone Park in Marong from 1.50pm features Strathfieldsaye and Castlemaine.

Marong and South Bendigo meet in the first semi for under-14 reserves two at Malone Park in Marong from 10.20am.

A big day of footy on Sunday includes the under-16 reserves one first semi-final between Castlemaine and Golden Square from 10.45am at Marist College Bendigo.

 

It’s qualifying finals and elimination finals for under-16 reserves two teams on Sunday.

South Bendigo and Kangaroo Flat will contest the qualifying final at Marist College Bendigo from 3.35pm.

 

It’s an elimination final showdown between Eaglehawk and White Hills from 10.35am at Maryborough’s Princes Park.

The under-16 seniors qualifying final on Sunday features Golden Square and Kangaroo Flat from 1.50pm at Marist College Bendigo.

 

Strathfieldsaye and Eaglehawk will vie to keep premiership hopes alive when they contest the elimination final from 12.20pm at Maryborough’s Princes Park.

Golden Square and Sandhurst will meet in the under-14 girls’ first semi-final on Sunday from 1.30pm at Marist College Bendigo.

The under-16 girls’ first semi-final on Sunday at Maryborough’s Princes Park features Kyneton Tigers up against Strathfieldsaye from 3.25pm.

In the under-18 girls’ competition, Woorinen Tigers take on Golden Square in first semi-final on Sunday from 12.30pm at Marist College Bendigo.
