KANGAROO Flat’s rising stars showed great form in many matches across the second weekend of the Bendigo Bank Bendigo Junior Football League season.
As grading matches for under-12 Mixed, under-14 Mixed, and under-16 Boys were played, there were premiership points up for grabs in the under-14, 16 and 18 girls’ competitions.
In the under-14 girls competition, Kangaroo Flat was on home turf at Dower Park to play Golden Square.
The Roos led 15-14 at quarter-time, before Squad struck back to win the second, 14-1.
Kangaroo Flat surged clear in the third as it added 3.2 to nil, and then scored 1.2 to 1.1 in the last for a 43-21 victory.
Tarlie Davis kicked four goals as Lucy Gilbee and Saige Patullo were also on target.
Best for the Roos were Taya Keetelaar, Eheh Soe, Ava Ahearn, Saige Patullo and Lr Say Paw.
In under-14 Mixed grading, Kangaroo Flat took on Marong at Dower Park.
The Roos led 33-7 at quarter-time, but the Panthers fired up to score 5.1 to a point in the second to lead 38-34 at the main break.
Marong led 50-45 going into the final term, but Flat lifted to score two goals and held the Panthers to four behinds for a 57-54 victory.
Goalkickers for the Roos were Logan Barton, Oliver Salau and Chad Woolley, two; Riley Brown and Lachlan Coghill.
Best for the Flat were Logan Barton, Lachlan Coghill, Connor Sutton, Austin Coghill, Sebastian Sharpe and Riley Brown.
Kangaroo Flat (2) played Strathfieldsaye reserves (2) in another under-14 Mixed grading match at Dower Park.
It was Storm which marked a 111-15 victory.
Astin Clayton and Robert Leech kicked the Roos’ goals.
Best for Kangaroo Flat were Ryan Mitchell, Max Gould, Jackson Thatcher, Oliver Bird, Jobe Jenkins and Mitchell Pitson.
In the under-16 boys action, Kangaroo Flat marked an 89-31 win against Huntly at Dower Park.
The Roos led 30-15 at half-time and then scored 8.11 to 2.4 after the break.
Tajh Blythman kicked a match-high three goals as captain Xavier Coghill, Brayden Franken, Ollie Lowndes added two each.
Other goalkickers for the green and white were Jye Clarke, Clayton Smith and Jimmy Taylor.
Best for the Roos were Tyran Farmer, Xavier Coghill, Tajh Blythman, Jack Burns, Jye Clarke and Clayton Smith.
