Bulldogs eye chance to jump into five

NORTH Bendigo could jump to rung five on the A-grade netball ladder by the end of this Saturday’s play in the Bendigo Bank Heathcote DFNL season.

Not only must the Bulldogs beat White Hills, but also rely on Huntly taking the points against Elmore.

It’s sixth against second as North Bendigo faces the Winslow Constructors White Hills Demons at Bendigo Club Oval in North Bendigo’s Atkins Street from 2.30pm.

A highlight of this season’s play for the Kiralee Kinder-coached North Bendigo was the 48-37 win against the Winslow Constructors White Hills Demons in round three.

The Bulldogs finally broke the Demons’ hoodoo on the Scott Street court.

An eight-two record by the Elly Lawton-coached White Hills has the red and black in second place.

As the Bulldogs had the bye last Saturday, White Hills scored a 14-goal win at home against Elmore.

Another crucial match on Saturday will be at Elmore where the Bloods take on the Harlowe Huntly Hawks.

The Bloods will be determined to hit back from defeat when it takes on the fourth-placed Huntly.

A record of five wins, four defeats and a draw has the Bloods in fifth place.

Elmore is now coached by Cayde Hayes, playing, and Hayley Langdon, non-playing.

When these teams met in round three in Huntly it was the Ashlea Sherlock and Kym Bell-coached Hawks who won a great contest with Elmore by three goals.

Huntly withstood a strong challenge from Leitchville Gunbower to win last Saturday’s clash at Strauch Reserve by six goals.

It’s the Bombers against the Blues as Leitchville Gunbower faces Mount Pleasant at Gunbower.

Back in round three the Anthea McCleary-coached Mount Pleasant scored a 30-goal win against LG in Toolleen.

The Blues brought up win number seven in last Saturday’s hard-fought clash with Lockington Bamawm United.

A 49-43 victory ensured Mounts would hold third place on the ladder.

The Grant Matthews-coached Leitchville Gunbower put the pressure on Huntly in every quarter last round.

The Bombers will need to bring a high level of pressure to take the points from the Blues.

Unbeaten and on top of the ladder, Colbinabbin marks another home game at M.J. Morgan Oval against Lockington Bamawm United.

The Grasshoppers won last Saturday’s clash with Heathcote by 35 goals.

The Jen McIntyre-coached Colbinabbin won on the Cats’ court at Nichol Trading Oval by 55 goals in round three.

The Grasshoppers are likely to face stronger opposition this time.

Although it did not win the Kerryn Giorgianni and Shelby Stone-coached LBU will have gained a lot of confidence from a six-goal loss on Mount Pleasant’s court.

Heathcote has the bye.
