GOLDEN Square outplayed Eaglehawk in Sunday’s round eight clash in the Champions IGA-backed CVFL senior women’s footy competition.
The ladder-leading Golden Square raced to a 34-nil lead by quarter time on its turf at Gourmet Pantry Oval in Wade Street.
Although the blue and gold was held to 1.2 in the second its defensive efforts were superb as the Hawks scored two behinds.
By half-time the Darren Walsh-coached Golden Square led 42-2.
Quarter three went the Bulldogs way, 19-7.
By the final siren Golden Square led 86-9.
The Bulldogs’ attack was led by Gabby Drage on five goals as Kira Gibbons kicked four.
Was a tough afternoon for the Molly Metcalf-coached Hawks in which Hannah Kenny was on target.
Best for Golden Square were Carly Geary, Makayla and Gemma Roberts, Bianca Bourke, Gabby Drage and Molly Forde.
Eaglehawk’s best were Lucy El Hage, Lexie Moss, Caitlin Evans, Eliza Long, Marnie Gudge and Chloe Lenaghan.
Sandhurst surged to a 73-point victory on the White Hills ground in Scott Street.
The Dragons led 20-nil at quarter-time and 33-nil by the long break.
Inspired by the play of Lily and Ruby Campbell and Taylah Klemm, Sandhurst won the next two quarters, 22-2 and 20-nil.
By the final siren the maroon and blue led 75-2.
Lily Campbell led the attack with four goals as Isabella Ayre slotted two.
Best for a Sandhurst team jointly coached by Liam Ireland and Andrew Saladino included Alannah Prowse, Maddy White and Lily Franklin.
Acacia Edwards, co-coach Sharni Barker, Chelsea Edwards, Holly Smith, Courtney Collard and Courtney Gibson were best for the Demons.
White Hills has Allara Jackson as co-coach.
The Wedge-Tailed Eagles dominated play on Marong’s turf at Jackal Oval in Malone Park to win by 161 points.
As the Phil Hawkes-coached Eagles racked up 24 goals they kept the Panthers scoreless.
Jorja Bennett led the attack on six goals as Emma Williams kicked four in a 161-nil victory.
Other multiple goalkickers for WTE were Demi Henderson, Aisha and Maddison Mansfield on two.
Best for the Eagles were Demi Henderson, Aisha Mansfield, Taya Barnett, Jorja Bennett, Teagan Ainslie and Rebecca Evans.
Naomi Ridsdale, Tidimalo Khalo, Hayley Greig, Danielle Humphrey and Jessica McDonald were best for the Brett Carter-coached Marong.
It was a rest for Castlemaine as Bendigo Thunder forfeited the match which was to have been played at The Railway Hotel Oval in Castlemaine’s Camp Reserve.

Pride Round kicks off with Friday night’s match in Eaglehawk’s Canterbury Park.
It’s also the halfway mark of the home-and-away series.
First match of the round will be Eaglehawk against Castlemaine from 7.30pm on Friday at C & M Oval in Eaglehawk’s Simpson’s Road.
Three matches on Sunday will start at 1pm.
Wedge-Tailed Eagles take on Sandhurst at Woodend’s Racecourse Reserve.

Round five in the Champions IGA-backed CVFL under-18 girls footy competition was played on Sunday.
Castlemaine fought back from a 18-point deficit at quarter-time of its clash with Echuca United at Echuca South Recreation Reserve to win by a point.
The Magpies were down by 15 points at quarter-time, 11 at the long break, and by 18 going into the final term.
Led by the play of Olivia Muscat, Hannah Cochrane and Ava Bartlett the Magpies swooped on chances to score 3.2 in the last as they kept the Eagles to a point.
When the final siren sounded Castlemaine was up 43-42.
Goalkickers for the Magpies were Tegan Barry, Kate Batchelor, Hannah Cochrane, Rhani Evans, Olivia Muscat and Isobelle Pratt.
The Eagles’ attack was led by Jada Dennis on four goals as Lily Dunham and Jemma Lewis added one each.
Best for Castlemaine included Piper Marshall, Kate Batchelor and Sierra Morgan.
Harper Delamare, Ruby Morgan, Jada Dennis, Matilda Fowler, Charlie Martin and Indi Herrett played well for Echuca United.
It was a closely-fought match at Jackal Oval in Marong’s Malone Park where Marong took on Kangaroo Flat.
The Marong Panthers led 18-8 at quarter-time before the Roos seized control in the second to score 3.1 at the home team added a major.
Quarter three went Marong’s way, seven-nil.
In the last term the Panthers added 1.5 as the Roos scored 1.1.
Marong was up 42-34 at the final siren.
Goalkickers for the Panthers were Molly Austin, three; Tianna Shay, two; and Allie Grant.
The Roos’ attack was led by Matilda Rose on three as Indigo Brown and Ruby Sanders McMahon booted a goal each.
Best for Marong were Alyssa Wardell, Emma O’Toole, Taylah Dudderidge, Molly Austin, Phoebe England and Martha Nacken.
Kangaroo Flat’s best were Ruby Sanders McMahon, Matilda Rose, London Benaim, Felicia Buovac, Lora Soko and Indigo Brown.
At Woorinen the Tigers roared to a 56-point victory against Storm.
The yellow and black led 26-6 at quarter-time and 42-13 by the long break.
Closest quarter was the third where Woorinen scored 2.2 and Storm slotted a goal.
By the final siren Woorinen led 76-20.
The Tigers’ attack was led by Sunny Barry, Stella Bibby and Prue O’Sullivan on two each.
Other goalkickers for Woorinen were Lana Brooks, Charli and Mayla Conway, Hollie Everett and Lola Patterson.
Jorja Cunningham kicked two goals for Storm.
Best for Woorinen were Milla Stewart, Lana Brooks, Lola Patterson, Mayla Conway, Lyla Morton and Sophia Watts.
Storm’s best were Dempsey McDonnell, Jordan O’Bree, Jorja Cunningham, Scarlett Ward and Alysha Boyd.

Three matches on Sunday will start at 11am.
