Champions IGA Inter-league Carnival arrives in Central Victoria

The Champions IGA Central Victoria Football League (CVFL) is excited to host the Annual Inter-league Carnival involving Goulburn Murray Women’s League (GMWL) and North East Border Female Football League (NEBFFL).

The GMWL formerly known as Northern Country Women’s League (NCWL) has a strong connection with CVFL as the two leagues commenced the inaugural Inter-league rivalry in 2018.

NEBFFL joined in the Inter-league in 2023 to make the structure a Carnival style event. The NEBFFL has been a welcoming addition for the Carnival with the 2023 event being held in Mooroopna and hosted by the GMWL.

This years Carnival will take place on Sunday 19th May at the Mercy Junortoun Sports Precinct (MJSP) with each league competing in an Under 18 and Senior Division. Each league will compete against each other once with a final of the top two teams completing the days program.

Hawthorn Premiership player Rick Ladson is set in the Head Coach role for the Seniors while Andrew Reid will lead the Under 18 Girls being assisted by Jordan Cochrane.

All Coaches have a wealth of knowledge and passion for football in the region. Ladson is no stranger to the CVFL players as he previously coached the Inter-league Seniors to wins in 2022 and 2023.

Players have been nominated by their Champions IGA CVFL Club and have had the opportunity to attend trials, where a squad has been named. A final team for both divisions will be announced the week of the carnival.
