Bulldogs hold off fast-finishing Swans at Tyntynder

TYNTYNDER held off a fast-finishing Swan Hill in Saturday’s stand-alone match on the King’s Birthday weekend to kick off round 10 in the Radio 3SH-backed Central Murray senior footy action.

The Bulldogs line-up included Brownlow medallist Dane Swan wearing the famous number 36 on Tyntynder’s turf at Swan Hill’s Alan Garden Reserve.

Swan brought 258 games of AFL experience  with Collingwood to the field.

A brilliant career by the Magpies on-baller included the 2010 premiership, 2011 Brownlow Medal, and selection in five All-Australian teams.

Swan Hill brought in former Essendon player Michael Hurley, who had previously represented the Swans.

Hurley played 194 games for the Bombers and was a dual All-Australian.

In Saturday’s clash it was Tyntynder which raced to a 21-point lead by quarter-time after it scored 7.3 to 4.0.

In the second it was the Michael Herlihy-coached Swans who hit back to win the term, 5.2 to 2.3.

The Jack O’Rourke-coached Bulldogs upped the pressure and run in the third to lead 88-65 at a quarter to play.

Desperate to break its winless run, Swan Hill fired up in the last.

The Swans slammed on 5.2, but Tyntynder’s tally of 2.3 was enough to clinch a 103-97 victory.

Tyntynder’s attack was led by Jason Eagle on five goals as Roy George added three and Jayden Magro chipped in with two.

Hurley capped a superb match with seven goals as Kallen Heslop booted three and Taj McMillan kicked two.

Tyntynder’s best were Roy George, Jayden Magro, Elia Ware, Jason Eagle, Harry Simpson and Patrick Blake.

Best for Swan Hill were Michael Hurley, Ned McKeown, Adam Manning, Kallen Heslop, Buol Majur and Sonny Beasy.
