CMFNL Round 16 Netball Review | Lake Boga fights for win against Balranald

LAKE Boga withstood a spirited challenge from Balranald to win the A-grade netball match in Saturday’s 16th round of the Central Murray FNL season.

The Magpies led 13-10 at quarter-time of the match at Lake Boga Sports Club before both teams added 10 goals in the second.

Balranald won the third term, 12-11, but Lake Boga lifted to win the last, 12-11.

At the final whistle the Magpies led 46-43.

Sarah Hepburn scored a game-high 39 goals for Lake Boga as Katie Hepburn added seven.

Balranald’s attack was led by Ella Mirtschin, 27; and  Jess Parry, 16.

Woorinen passed the century mark against Koondrook Barham at Barham.

The Tigers led 27-5 at quarter-time and 58-13 by half-time.

Tayla Bennett went on to achieve a season-high 95 goals as Emily Siely scored 19 in a 118-14 victory for the yellow and black.

Koondrook Barham’s goalers were Emily Fasham, 11, and Tatum Boyd, 7.

Swan Hill outplayed Cohuna Kangas on the Swan Hill court.

The Swans dominated the opening term to lead 26-9 at the main break.

Cohuna lifted to score 11 goals in the second as Swan Hill added 15.

Zoe Morris went on to score 50 goals as Ingrid Condely added 22 and Kelly Bonney chipped in with six as the Swans won 78-41.

Goalers for Cohuna were Kobie McIvor, 29; Skye Perry, 7; and Carmen Dye, 5.

Closest result in A-grade was at Manangatang where Tooleybuc Manangatang faced Nyah Nyah West United.

The visitors led 8-7 at quarter-time before the Saints won the second, 12-9.

Tooleybuc Manangatang led 29-26 at a quarter to play, but it was the Demons who fired up to win the last, 11-6, and the match, 37-35.

Stephanie Henson scored 18 goals for Nyah Nyah West United.

It was a bye for Kerang, Mallee Eagles, and Tyntynder.

Highlight of next Saturday’s round 17 action will be Woorinen against Lake Boga in the clash of third and first at Woorinen.

Balranald is back home at Greenham Park to play Kerang.

Nyah Nyah West United plays Mallee Eagles on the Demons’ court at Nyah Recreation Reserve.

Tyntynder and Swan Hill clash at Alan Garden Reserve in Swan Hill.

Cohuna Kangas are at home to play the Tooleybuc Manangatang Saints.

Koondrook Barham has the bye.
