CMFNL Round 7 Netball Review Magpies | Swans fly high in netball action

THE Lake Boga Magpies and Swan Hill’s Swans are flying high atop the A-grade netball ladder after seven rounds in the Central Murray FNL season.

Latest match for Lake Boga was at Barham where it scored a 67-25 win against Koondrook Barham.

The Magpies led 36-13 at half-time and did not let up after the break.

Sarah Hepburn scored 41 goals for Lake Boga as Katie Hepburn added 26.

Goalers for Koondrook Barham were Emily Fasham, 13, and Shanae O’Donoghue, 12.

Swan Hill won a closely-fought match at Balranald.

The Swans led 12-9 at quarter-time and 25-20 by half-time.

Balranald cut the margin by a goal in the third, but the Swans won the last, 10-9, and the match, 47-42.

Zoe Morris scored 31 goals for the Swans as Casey Frame added 16.

Balranald’s attack was led by Ella Mirtschin, 22; Jess Parry, 14; and Bec Harvey, 6.

The Tigers from Woorinen were too strong at home for Kerang.

A 19-10 opening term put Woorinen well in control.

The Tigers won the next term, 14-7, to hold a 16-goal buffer by the long break.

Kerang lifted to win the third term, 12-11, but it was the Tigers who went on to claim the premiership points in a 56-35 result.

Tayla Bennett hit the 50-goal mark for Woorinen as Emily Siely chipped in with six.

Goalers for Kerang were Courtney Robertson, 20; Keiarah Brooks, 8; and Emma Wright, 7.

Tyntynder was in top form against Tooleybuc Manangatang.

After the Saints led 10-9 at quarter-time, Tyntynder lifted to win the second, 19-10.

Kimberley Calvert went on to score a match-high 35 goals and Kelsey Rowe scored 21 in a 56-35 result.

Cohuna Kangas could not stop Mallee Eagles soaring to a big win.

The Eagles led 18-9 at quarter-time on the Kangas’ court and then unleashed a 23-goal blitz in the second to lead 41-25 at half-time.

Kellie Walker scored 59 goals and Megan Thorneycroft poured in 21 as the Eagles marked an 80-44 victory.

Cohuna’s goalers were Carmen Dye, 26; Kobie McIvor, 14; and Sammi Moon, 4.

Nyah Nyah West United had the bye.

Kerang faces Koondrook Barham at Kerang’s Riverside Park.

Mallee Eagles and Tyntynder clash at Lalbert.

Swan Hill and Woorinen meet at Swan Hill Recreation Reserve.

Lake Boga has the bye.
