CONSECUTIVE wins is a feat North Bendigo has not chased too often in its time in the Champions IGA-backed CVFL senior women’s football competition.
The Bulldogs will do so this Sunday as the league marks Pink Round in support of Breast Cancer Network Australia.
All three matches in the season’s sixth round being played on Mother’s Day will start at 1pm.
North Bendigo makes its way to Weeroona Oval in Napier Street to take on Bendigo Thunder.
Latest hit-out for the Bulldogs was in the fourth round where it beat White Hills by 16 points.
Best for the Jaydene Burzacott and Zak Carter-coached North Bendigo were Shae-Lee Murphy-Burke, Marguerita Murphy, Maddie Jelbart and Cassandra Coughlan.
It’s been a tough run for a young Bendigo Thunder team coached by Mick McInnes.
Players to watch in the Thunder line-up include Stacey Barbagallo, Maddi Brackenreg and Charlotte Williams.
On-field leaders are Katherine Christie, Estella Murphy and Alannah Leach.
Golden Square will be on home turf in Wade Street against Marong.
Golden Square has achieved a win-loss tally of four-one and is second on the ladder.
In-form players for the blue and gold include Sarah Mannes, Gabby Drage, Molly Forde and Ava Barker.
Will be another test for Marong as it aims to bounce back from last Sunday’s defeat to Eaglehawk at Canterbury Park.
Best for the Panthers against the Hawks were Lauren Knight, Katrina Alford, Crystal Clark and Liza Jane Edwards.
The Jimmy Evenden and Daniel Bourke-coached Marong has a one-two record and is fifth in the premiership race.
Castlemaine is back in action at Camp Reserve against White Hills.
Unbeaten in its pursuit of a fourth-straight premiership, Castlemaine has the classy Meg Ginnivan in for her first match of the season.
Players to watch for the Magpies include Tia Davidge, Brianna Burt, Evie Nuttall, Jemma Finning and Ella Cochrane.
The Jordan Cochrane-coached Castlemaine has Tiahna Cochrane as captain and gun forward Eloise Gretgrix as vice-captain.
Best for the Phil Murley-coached White Hills in last Sunday’s match against Golden Square were Nadia Peebles, Oakley Turner, Catherine Fry and Amelie Haigh.

It’s also Pink Round for the competition in which all three matches start at 11.15am.
Second takes on third as Woorinen faces Sandhurst at Woorinen Recreation Reserve.
Golden Square tackles Strathfieldsaye at Golden Square’s Wade Street Oval.
Kangaroo Flat and Eaglehawk clash on the Kangaroos’ ground in Dower Park.
White Hills has the bye.
