BRIDGEWATER’S dominant third quarter set up a four-goal win on Pyramid Hill’s turf in Saturday’s second round of senior footy in the Bendigo Bank Loddon Valley FNL.
The Lachie Sharp-coached Bridgewater was down 33-37 at half-time of the contest at Mitchell Park.
In the third the Mean Machine scored 4.3 and kept the Bulldogs to a goal.
The last went Bridgewater’s way, 26-21.
Oscar McKinley kicked a match-high four goals in the 88-64 victory as Nic Naughton and Lachie Sharp added two each.
Pyramid Hill’s attack was led by Jhye Baddeley-Kelly on four as Isaac Brill booted two.
Best for Bridgewater were Darcy Wood, Jack Neylon, Lachie Sharp, Nic Naughton, Harry McKinley and Jack Milligan.
Ben Knight, Isaac Brill, Jhye Baddeley-Kelly, James Sala, Ryan McGhie and Blake Gibson were best for the Jarrod Fitzpatrick-coached Pyramid Hill.
A 10-goal haul by Dimitri Fasoulis highlighted Macorna’s win at home against Mitiamo.
Fasoulis has joined the Tigers from Bonbeach on the Mornington Peninsula.
It was a high-scoring match between the Tigers and Superoos at Macorna Recreation Reserve.
The Fergus Payne-coached Tigers led 25-9 at quarter-time and 51-34 by the main break.
As Macorna scored six goals in the third it kept Mitiamo to a tally of two goals.
The Luke Lougoon-coached Superoos struck back to win the last, 37-25, but it was Macorna which celebrated a 119-83 victory.
Fasoulis led the way on 10 goals as Seb Erharter who has crossed from Inglewood kicked three.
Mitiamo’s leading goalkicker was Ben Arho on three as Bryce Laird, Zak Myers and Zach Morrison kicked two each.
Best for Macorna were Dimitri Fasoulis, Seb Erharter, Matt Colak, Xavier Wishart, Tom Ebbage and Toby Whinfield.
Ben Arho, Bryce Laird, Daniel Baldwin, Luke Lougoon, Zach Cruse and Ryan Duncan were Mitiamo’s best.
It was Kaye’s Day as Inglewood hosted Marong at Centre State Scaffolding Oval.
The match honoured Kaye Cohalan and was a fund-raiser for Cancer Council Victoria.
On the footy field it was Marong which raced to a 35-1 lead by quarter-time.
The James Flaherty-coached Panthers did not ease the intensity.
As Marong scored four goals in the second it kept the Blues to one major.
The Panthers scored six goals in the third to open up an 86-point lead going into the final term.
Noah McCaig finished with five goals as Lachlan Lee, Brad Matthews and Jack McCaig kicked two each in the 122-35 victory.
Best for Marong were Lachlan Lee, Michael Bradbury, Noah McCaig, Nathan Devanny, David Johnstone and Kepler Thomson.
Gabe Nevins, Charlie Aitken, Mischa Fraillon, Curtis Day, Liam Marciano and Lachlan Harris were best for the Jackson Hood-coached Blues.
Bears Lagoon-Serpentine scored an 85-point win at home against Calivil United.
The Jake Wilkinson-coached Bears led 29-13 at quarter-time and 58-27 by the main break at Gadsden Finance Serpentine Reserve.
Seven goals in the third put the result beyond doubt as BLS led 103-45 going into the last quarter.
Jordan Priestley capped a great match with four goals as Farran Priest kicked three and James Bailey, Callum Draper and Frasier Holland added two in 131-46 victory.
Calivil United’s leading goalkicker was Henry McCarthy on four as Cody Thompson kicked two.
Best for the Bears were Jaxon Addlem, Corey Wanganeen, Nathan Twigg, Ross Turner, James Bailey and Jordan Priestley.
Cody Thompson, Jack Maher, Ryan Strauch, Jayden Manderson, Henry McCarthy and Liam Stephens played well for the Sam Maher-coached Demons.
The Eagles from Maiden Gully YCW soared to a 67-point victory on Newbridge’s turf at Deepcore Drilling Oval in Riverside Park.
Maiden Gully YCW led 35-9 at quarter-time and then slammed on eight goals in the second.
By half-time the Eagles were up by 69 points.
Lewis Pigdon, Daniel Russell and Tye Bedford starred as former Essendon and Port Adelaide forward/mid Angus Monfries and Todd Delahey both kicked five goals in a 133-66 victory.
Other multiple goalkickers for the Eagles were Luke Gray, Mitch Hill and Lewis Pigdon with two.
Newbridge’s attack was led by Brandon Dimech on four as Brodie Carr and Caleb Sanders added two.
Best for the Eagles included Antony Robins, Mitch Hill and Isaac Neretlis.
Brandon Dimech, Jackson Hufer, Jackson Eadon, Zaiyden Richards, Jack McInerney and Baxter Ash were best for the Jayden Cordy-coached Newbridge.

In the netball action, Pyramid Hill won a closely-fought A-grade netball clash with Bridgewater in Saturday’s second round in the Bendigo Bank Loddon Valley FNL season.
The Bulldogs and Mean Machine played on Pyramid Hill’s court at Mitchell Park.
After a shock loss at Inglewood in the opening round the Pyramid Hill team which is coached by Chelsea Emmerson, Amber Dingwall and Darci Tierney was desperate for victory.
The Bulldogs won 53-50 against the Carly Wild and Lou Dupuy-coached Bridgewater.
At Inglewood the Blues showed their round one win was not a fluke as they outplayed Marong by 10 goals.
The Dani O’Toole coached Inglewood won 60-50 at Centre State Scaffolding Oval.
A Marong team coached by Bridget Willox and Bianca Garton is fifth rolling into Sunday’s match at Calivil Recreation Reserve.
Calivil United fought for a two-goal win on Bears Lagoon-Serpentine’s court at Gadsden Finance Serpentine Reserve.
The Annie Blow and Alex Ingram-coached Demons kept the heat on to record a 40-38 victory.
Erin Varker is coach of the Bears this season.
Newbridge was too strong for Maiden Gully YCW Eagles at Deepcore Drilling Oval in Newbridge’s Riverside Park.
The Hayley Martiniello-coached Newbridge won 56-34 to hold second place on the ladder.

League newcomer Macorna marked its first home against Mitiamo at Macorna Recreation Reserve.
The Brooke Allison-coached Tigers worked hard against the reigning premier.
