COHUNA Kangas ended Swan Hill’s unbeaten run in Saturday’s clash on day two of the split fifth round in Radio 3SH Central Murray FNL senior footy.
The Jack Geary-coached Cohuna turned a nine-point lead at half-time into a 33-point buffer by the last change in the Swans’ nest at Swan Hill Recreation Reserve.
Although the Swans won the final term, 31-26, it was Cohuna which led 91-63 at the final siren.
The Kangas’ attack was led by Corbin Anderson with four goals as Daniel Coates and Charlie Ford added two each.
Tom Smith slotted three goals as Buol Majur and Will Simpson added two majors for the Jason Murphy-coached Swan Hill.
Best for Cohuna Kangas were Chris Anderson, Tom Toma, Sam McGlone, Daniel Coates, Jack Geary and Mitch Treacy.
Swan Hill’s best were Connor Dooley, Tom Holdstock, Matt Gilbee, Lane Cardenas, James Horsey and Cooper Angus.
Hay kicked away in the final quarter to complete a 51-point win on Murrabit’s turf.
The Hay Lions led 37-13 at quarter-time, but Murrabit struck back to score 3.3 as it kept the Lions to a tally of 2.3 in the second.
Just three goals separated the teams at the long break.
Quarter three went Hay’s way, 33-27.
The Lions then added four goals as the Blues posted a solitary behind in the last.
Declan and Jacob Watson kicked four goals each as Harry Loughnan added two in a 113-62 victory for the Lions.
Leading goalkicker for Murrabit was Ryan Smyth on three.
Fergus Cattanach, Will Wolbers, Jacob Watson, Jack Headon, Cooper Scott and Angus Gardiner were best for the Mick Cattanach and James Moran-coached Lions.
Best in a Murrabit team coached by Rick Ladson and Jack Shannahan were Bayleigh Tate, James Russo, Ryan Smyth, Ben Derbas, Cruz Jolliffe and Ben Gillingham.
The Mallee Eagles soared to a 127-point victory against Tyntynder at Lalbert.
After a closely-fought opening term, Mallee led 20-7 at quarter-time.
The Eagles added 5.9 and kept the Bulldogs scoreless in the second.
Inspired by the play of coach Harry Allen, Darcy Hourigan and Marcus Wattie the Mallee line-up slotted seven goals in the third and six in the last.
By the final siren the Eagles led 144-17.
Mallee’s attack was led by Darcy Hourigan on eight goals as Darcy McGregor kicked four and Jonah Devlin added two.
Goalkickers for Tyntynder were Darcy Bibby and Josh Potter.
Best for the Eagles included Shaun Harrison, Will Tanner and Liam Drummond.
Harry Simpson, Josh Potter, Sam Bull, Elia Ware, coach Darcy Bibby and Tate Hulland were best for the Bulldogs.
Ultima dominated its home game against Wandella to record a 158-28 victory.
Best quarters for the Joel Donnan-coached Storm were the second and fourth in which they scored 10 and six goals.
The Ultima attack was led by Dustin Burns and Kade Benfield on six and four goals as Lucas Caccaviello and Zac Cattlin kicked three each and Billy O’Toole added two.
Leading goalkicker for the Bombers was Seth Rowe on two.
Ultima’s best were Ben Kennedy, Zac Cattlin, Sol Kelly, Cameron Johnson, Billy O’Toole and Dustin Burns.
Best for Wandella were Darcy Ramage, Adam Ward, coach Justin Robinson, Jack Radcliffe, John Cooper and Laing Waddingham.
Winners in week one of the split fifth round were Kerang, Moulamein, Nyah Nyah West United, and Woorinen.

Mallee Eagles will tackle Lake Boga at Lalbert.
It’s the Demons against the Blues as Nyah Nyah West United hosts Kerang at Nyah Recreation Reserve.
Tooleybuc Manangatang will play Koondrook Barham in Tooleybuc.
Wandella and Murrabit meet in the Bombers’ hangar at Wandella Recreateion Reserve.
Woorinen and Moulamein clash in the Tigers’ den at Woorinen Recreation Reserve.
It’s a rest for Tyntynder and Hay who played in the Round Zero match on March 28 at Swan Hill’s Alan Garden Reserve.
The Hay Lions marked a 52-point win against the Bulldogs.
