CVFL ROUND 1 U18’s REVIEW

In the CVFL under-18 girls competition, Strathfieldsaye, Sandhurst and White Hills marked big wins in Sunday’s first round.

Storm marked a 69-point victory against Woorinen on Strathfieldsaye’s turf at Triple M Park in Tannery Lane.

The Storm led 40-8 at half-time and 85-16 by the final siren.

Evie Nuttall capped a best afield performance with four goals.

Other multiple goalkickers for Storm were Eve Kalms, three; and Freja Dahl, two.

Emilie Ward and Carly Shepherd were on target for the Tigers.

Best for Strathfieldsaye were Evie Nuttall, Scarlett Ward, Dempsey McDonnell, Maddie Dunn, Tess Cockerall and Alysha Boyd.

Carly Shepherd, Hollie Everett, Emilie Ward and Lauren Clarke played well for the yellow and black.

White Hills racked up 45 scoring shots in a 180-nil result on Eaglehawk’s ground at Canterbury Park.

The Demons were red-hot from the first ball-up as they scored nine goals in the first quarter, eight in the second, five majors in the third and fourth terms.

Goalkickers and best players for both teams were not supplied.

Sandhurst won 100-31 against Castlemaine at Ewing Park.

The Dragons led 47-18 at half-time and scored 8.5 to 2.1 in the second half.

Scout Carmody kicked five goals as captain Lily Franklin added three.

Other multiple goalkickers for Sandhurst were Ava Franklin, Ellie Bellenger and Hannah Cochrane on two.

Captain Chloe Butcher kicked two goals for Castlemaine.

Best for Sandhurst were Scout Carmody, Molly McLoughlan, Leni Brown, Ava Franklin, Lily Franklin and Hannah Cochrane.

The Magpies’ best were Chloe Butcher, Tegan Barry, Lori Whaley, Olivia Muscat, Kate Batchelor and Shelby Kitchingham.

Golden Square had the bye.

Strathfieldsaye 531 per cent, 4 points; Sandhurst 322, 4; White Hills 0, 4; Castlemaine 31, 0; Woorinen 18, 0; Eaglehawk 0, 0; Golden Square 0, 0.

The second round kicks off with Friday night’s match between Eaglehawk and Golden Square in Eaglehawk’s Canterbury Park at 5.30pm.

On Sunday it’s top teams Strathfieldsaye and Sandhurst who clash at Triple M Park in Tannery Lane at 10.30am.

Castlemaine takes on Woorinen from 11.15am at Castlemaine’s Camp Reserve.

White Hills has the bye.
