Winning run for Bulldogs, Demons keeps rolling

A WINNING start to the season rolled on for Golden Square and White Hills in round three of the Central Victoria Football League under-18 girls competition.

The ladder-leading Golden Square marked a 40-21 win at home against Woorinen on the Wade Street ground.

The Bulldogs led 17-1 at half-time.

Woorinen fought back to win the third quarter, 14-1, but the Dogs settled to score 3.4 to a goal in the last.

Golden Square’s attack was led by Tiara Davis on three goals.

Grace Ayars kicked two goals for the Tigers.

Best for the Bulldogs were Ella Gourley, Makayla Roberts, Ava Barker, Bella Eddy, Alex Filsell and Shelby Boldiston.

Meg Young, Chloe Lovell, Sienna Spence, Sunny Barry, Milla Stewart and Charli Conway played well for Woorinen.

White Hills won a high-scoring match with Sandhurst at Ewing Park by 23 points.

The Demons led 40-36 at half-time and 53-51 going into the last quarter.

A tally of 4.5 to 1.2 in the final term sealed an 82-59 win for White Hills.

Mia Clark and Tarliah Murphy kicked three goals for the red and black as Ella Henery added two.

Sandhurst’s attack was led by Hannah Cochrane and Mia Howarth on two each.

Round three kicked off with Friday night’s match between Strathfieldsaye and Castlemaine at Triple M Park in Strathfieldsaye.

The home team scored 3.3 to nil in the second to gain a 20-point lead by half-time.

Freja Dahl kicked three goals and Evie Nuttall added two as Storm won 43-10.

Best for Strathfieldsaye were Maddie Dunn, Tessa Skipper, Scarlett Ward, Evie Nuttall, Freja Dahl and Shontaie Bennett.

Shelby Kitchingham, Tegan Barry, Piper Marshall, Kiesha Legg, Chelsea Cole and Chloe Butcher were best for the Magpies.

Eaglehawk had the bye.

Golden Square 923 per cent, 8 points; White Hills 444, 8; Strathfieldsaye 183, 8; Sandhurst 154, 8; Woorinen 53, 4; Castlemaine 33, 0; Eaglehawk 0, 0.

Round four kicks off with Saturday morning’s match between Castlemaine and Golden Square Square from 9am at Castlemaine’s Camp Reserve.

On Sunday, Strathfieldsaye plays Eaglehawk at Triple M Park in Strathfieldsaye’s Tannery Lane from 10.30am.

White Hills takes on Woorinen at Scott Street in White Hills.

Sandhurst has the bye.
