Kyneton fights to gain a break on Hawks

KYNETON could gain an eight-point break on the fifth-placed Eaglehawk in this Saturday’s start to round 12 in the Champions IGA-backed CVFL senior women’s football season.

The Tigers will have home-ground advantage at Kyneton Showgrounds when they take on Strathfieldsaye Storm from 5.15pm in the resumption to the season after a general bye.

Kyneton scored 17 goals in its latest match at home as Jordan Savoia kicked six goals in a best afield performance and Shannon Prendergast also kicked six majors against Kerang.

In-form players for the Tigers include Heidi Erasmus, Ursula van Dyk and Rachael Williams.

The Jake Donegan-coached Storm will look to Melissa Freestone, Jessica Jackson, Lila Keck and Bryde O’Rourke to turn up the heat.

 

Bendigo Thunder takes on North Bendigo from 2.30pm on Sunday at Weeroona Oval in Napier Street.

Britney Mueck kicked six goals in Thunder’s latest win against Strathfieldsaye.

In-form players for the Jac Louttit-coached Thunder include captain Phoebe Cuttriss, Shelby Faulkner, Jessica Kennedy and Megan Williamson.

Best for the Ricky Crotty-coached North Bendigo in the 11th round showdown with Eaglehawk were Quette Holloway-Jinks, Cherelle Byrne, Kira Gibbons, Cassandra Coughlan, Kirsty Galea and Kacey Davis.

 

Eaglehawk and Golden Square have the bye, while the scheduled Castlemaine and Kerang match has been forfeited.

The seventh game in the CVFL practice match series will be played on Sunday between Eaglehawk and Mount Alexander Falcons from 2.30pm on the Hawks’ turf at Canterbury Park in Simpsons Road.
