CVFL Women’s Wrap Up | Round 11

Margins a lot closer this time around

FINAL margins in all three matches in the 11th round were a lot closer than when clubs previously met in the Champions IGA-backed CVFL senior women’s football competition.

Players, umpires, coaches, officials and spectators braved Sunday’s cold conditions, which included a heavy downpour in some parts of Bendigo.

North Bendigo worked extremely hard on defensive efforts to limit Eaglehawk to 11 goals in the match at Hibo Hotel Oval in North Bendigo’s Atkins Street.

The Hawks scored 11.20 (86) as Jasmine Burzacott, Courtney Coffey and Samantha Heron kicked two goals each.

Best for Eaglehawk were Drew Ryan, Molly Metcalf, Hannah Kenny, Courtney Coffey, Samantha Heron and Emily Field.

The consistent Quetta Holloway-Jinks was North Bendigo’s best along with Cherelle Byrne, Kira Gibbons, Cassandra Coughlan, Kirsty Galea and Kacey Davis.

Strathfieldsaye Storm took on Bendigo Thunder at Triple M Park in Strathfieldsaye’s Tannery Lane.

Storm also did well to limit Thunder to just five goals in the first half.

Gun forward Britney Mueck went on to kick six of Thunder’s 13 goals in an 86-point victory.

The classy Lila Keck kicked a goal for Storm.

Best for Thunder were Jessica Kennedy, Megan Williamson, Phoebe Cuttriss, Shelby Faulkner, Imogen Kendal and Jessica Gould.

Lila Keck, Jessica Jackson, Melissa Freestone, Bryde O’Rourke, Britt Tangey and Molly Pianta played well for Strathfieldsaye.

Kerang made the long trek to Kyneton Showgrounds to play the Tigers.

Shannon Prendergast and Jordan Savoia teamed to boot six goals apiece in a 116-point win at Tigerland.

Kyneton’s best were Jordan Savoia, Heidi Erasmus, Ursula van Dyk, Shannon Prendergast, Rachael Williams and Lucille Mitchell.

Castlemaine and Golden Square had the bye.
