Demons stun Superoos on Mitiamo court

CALIVIL United scored a stunning victory against Mitiamo in Saturday’s 13th round of A-grade netball in the Bendigo Bank Loddon Valley Football Netball League season.

A 60-56 win was one of Calivil United’s finest in recent years.

The Demons and Superoos played out a high-scoring and entertaining match on the court at Mitiamo’s John Forbes Oval.

It was Mitiamo’s first defeat of the season and broke a winning run that stretched back to June 1, 2019 when Bridgewater scored a 42-27 win at home against the Superoos.

After starting the season with losses at Marong and then at home to Maiden Gully YCW, Calivil United is now on a 7-1 run and holds third place on the ladder.

Another big match on Saturday was at Pyramid Hill’s Mitchell Park between the Bulldogs and Marong Panthers.

In round four, Pyramid Hill won by 13 goals on Marong’s court.

This time it was the Panthers who reigned supreme in a top match, 30-28.

Neighbouring clubs, Bridgewater and Newbridge clashed at Bridgewater Bakehouse Oval.

The Bridgewater line-up won 55-40.

Inglewood had a rest in A-grade, but the Blues played Bears Lagoon Serpentine in the lower grades at Inglewood’s Dissy Machinery Oval.

Maiden Gully YCW Eagles had the bye.

Standings in the Loddon Valley FNL A-grade netball competition:

Mitiamo 136 per cent, 36 points; Maiden Gully YCW Eagles 117, 32; Calivil United 119, 28; Bridgewater 113, 28; Marong 100, 20; Pyramid Hill 98, 16; Newbridge 63, 8; Inglewood 60, 8.

In next Saturday’s 14th round, Calivil United meets Bridgewater at 5 Star Stockfeeds Oval in Calivil.

Marong and Mitiamo clash on the Panthers’ court at Discover Marong Park in Malone Park.

Maiden Gully YCW Eagles face Pyramid Hill at Marist College Oval.

Newbridge plays Bears Lagoon Serpentine in the lower grades at Serpentine, but the Maroons take a break in A-grade.

Inglewood has the bye.
