THE favourites took the premiership points in Saturday’s seventh round of senior footy across the Bendigo Bank Loddon Valley FNL.
Closest margin of the day was at Calivil where Macorna defeated Calivil United by 19 points.
The Fergus Payne-coached Macorna was determined to return to the winner’s list after a hat-trick of defeats.
Macorna raced to a 33-2 lead by quarter-time.
Calivil United hit back to win the second, 21-14.
By the last change the Tigers held a four-goal buffer.
The Sam Maher-coached Demons scored 3.2 in the last and held the yellow and black to a tally of 2.3.
When the final siren sounded Macorna was up 76-57.
Dimitri Fasoulis led the the Tigers’ attack on three goals as Seb Erharter and Fergus Payne kicked two each.
Leading goalkicker for Calivil United was Brodie Wagner on three.
Best for Macorna were Xavier Wishart, Matt Colak, Fergus Payne, Sam Whinfield, Jackson Hall and Broden Wishart.
The Demons’ best were Tyler Rasmussen, Cody Thompson, Zac Tickell, Kade Blow, James Steel and Ryan Strauch.
Marong ended Newbridge’s winning run as the Panthers and Maroons clashed at Jackal Oval in Marong’s Malone Park.
Confidence was high in the Newbridge line-up after a run of four consecutive wins.
The Marong Panthers raced to a 43-16 lead by quarter-time.
Newbridge won the second term, 17-14.
Marong led 89-58 going into the final term and added four goals in the last as Newbridge slotted two majors.
Cooper Hale led the Panthers’ attack on three goals as Michael Bradbury, David Johnstone, Max Lowery and Cooper Murphy kicked two each in the 119-70 victory.
Leading goalkickers for Newbridge were Jackson Hufer, three; Declan Campbell and Brodie Carr, two.
Best for the James Flaherty-coached Marong were Jai Gretgrix, David Johnstone, Jacob Ede, Jimmy Gadsden, Wil Thomson and Nathan Devanny.
Jon Coe, Jackson Hufer, Blake Wells, Max Edwards, Declan Campbell and Jackson Eadon were best for the Jayden Cordy-coached Newbridge.
A seven-goal haul by Jhye Baddeley-Kelly highlighted Pyramid Hill’s win in Bears Lagoon-Serpentine’s den at Gadsden Finance Serpentine Reserve.
It was a closely-fought first half which went Pyramid Hill’s way, 48-40.
The Jarrod Fitzpatrick-coached Bulldogs then dominated the third quarter.
As Pyramid Hill scored 3.5 it kept the Bears to a tally of two behinds.
The ladder-leaders then added seven goals in the last to complete a 119-51 victory.
Baddeley-Kelly led the way on seven goals as Harrison Goodes kicked three and Zach Alford and Brodie Carroll chipped in with two each.
The Bears’ attack was led by Frasier Holland on two goals.
Pyramid Hill’s best were James Sala, Levi Moss, Isaac Brill, Jhye Baddeley-Kelly, Zach Alford and Ben Knight.
Andy Gladman, Tyler Miles, Nathan Twigg, Callum Draper and Steve Gladman were best for the Jake Wilkinson-coached BLS team.
Inglewood’s hot streak kept rolling in the Maiden Gully YCW Eagles’ nest at Marist College Oval.
The Jackson Hood-coached Blues won every quarter in a 93-34 victory.
Mitch Pickering kicked four goals as Bregon Cotchett and Ben Morgan booted two each.
The Eagles’ attack was led by Mitch Lines on two goals.
Best for the Blues were Liam Marciano, Bregon Cotchett, Kai Cavallaro, Tom Kennedy, Gabe Nevins and Aaron Lister.
Isaac Neretlis, Anthony Robins, Daniel Russell, Mitchell Lines, Tye Bedford and Slater Piazza were best for an Eagles’ team coached by Shawn Filo, non-playing, and Angus Monfries, playing.
After a three-nil start Inglewood has won four in a row rolling into the Indigenous Round match at Newbridge’s Deepcore Drilling Riverside Oval.
Although coach and gun forward Lachie Sharp was on the sidelines, Bridgewater had too much firepower for Mitiamo on the Superoos’ turf at John Forbes Oval in Mitiamo.
The Luke Lougoon-coached Mitiamo had the visitors under the pump as it won the first quarter, 22-11.
Bridgewater hit back to slam on six goals and kept the Superoos scoreless in the second.
Best quarter of the match was the third which went the way of the Mean Machine, 26-20.
Bridgewater then scored eight goals in the last to complete a 127-55 victory.
Leading goalkickers for the Mean Machine were Tyson Taylor and Harry Conway on four and three goals as Tom Broadbent, Luke Ellings, Josh Martyn and Darcy Wood chipped in with two each.
Mitiamo team-mates Kobe Galvin, Bryce Laird and Zach Morrison kicked two goals apiece.
Best for Bridgewater were Tyson Taylor, Jacob and Luke Ellings, Harry Conway, Darcy Wood and Jack Symons.
Mitiamo’s best were Colby Collins, Jayden Matthews, Tyler Wescott, Jye Rasmussen, Anthony Huismann and Scott Baldwin.

In the netball…..REIGNING premier Mitiamo showed its going to be tough to beat in this season’s A-grade netball premiership race as it won Saturday’s round seven clash with Bridgewater in Bendigo Bank Loddon Valley FNL action.
The Jen Wilson-coached Mitiamo had home-court advantage at John Forbes Oval as the competition’s top two faced off.
A high-scoring match went the way of the Superoos, 63-49.
The Carly Wild and Lou Dupuy-coached Bridgewater dropped to the fourth rung on the ladder.
Another big match was at Jackal Oval in Marong’s Malone Park where Newbridge scored a 17-goal victory.
The Hayley Martiniello-coached Newbridge teamed well in all thirds of the court to claim a 59-42 win against the Panthers.
A Marong team coached by Bridget Willox and Bianca Garton is sixth in the title race.
Despite being home at Gadsden Finance Serpentine Reserve, Bears Lagoon-Serpentine could not halt Pyramid Hill’s run to a 58-36 victory.
The Erin Varker-coached Bears were under pressure from the first centre pass.
A win-loss tally of four-three has the Chelsea Emmerson, Amber Dingwall and Darci Tierney-coached Pyramid Hill on the fifth rung rolling into next Saturday’s home game against Macorna.
Calivil United marked its third win of the season as the Demons claimed a 15-goal win against Macorna.
The Annie Blow and Alex Ingram-coached Calivil United worked hard for a 55-40 victory against the Tigers.
In its debut season in the Loddon Valley, Macorna is coached by Brooke Allison.
Maiden Gully YCW Eagles was outplayed by Inglewood at Marist College Oval.
The Eagles were on their court in Maiden Gully, but it was the Dani O’Toole-coached Inglewood which charged to a 65-36 victory.
