Bombers outplay Swans at Wandella

WANDELLA outplayed Moulamein to score a 65-point victory in Saturday’s third round of the Golden Rivers FNL senior footy season.

The Bombers were in great form on their ground at Wandella.

A sign of Wandella’s dominance in the opening term was the number of shots on goal.

The red and black scored 4.6, but a far greater accurate Moulamein stayed in touch as it added three straight goals.

By half-time Wandella led 58-25.

The Bombers pressure and run did not let up across the final hour.

Wandella won the third quarter, 5.4 to 2.4, and the last, 5.1 to 2.5.

Co-coaches Justin Robinson and Adam Ward played crucial roles as they kicked four goals each for Wandella in the 123-58 victory.

Other multiple goalkickers for the Bombers were Russell Rich and Laing Waddingham on two.

Moulamein’s attack was led by Ely Miller, three, and Lochlan Prentice, two.

Best for Wandella were Adam Ward, Nathan Boysen, Russell Rich, Justin Robinson, Kaine O’Connell and Jarred Schlitz.

Moulamein’s best were Ely Miller, Heath Moloney, Rodney Reeves, Jayden Haeusler, Reece Smith and James White.

The Lions beat the Tigers as Hay marked a winning trek to Macorna.

In front by two goals at quarter-time, Hay scored 4.5 to 1.3 in the second term.

It was a closely-fought third quarter which went Hay’s way, 22-18.

The Lions then unleashed an eight goal blitz in the final term.

Jack Cattanach kicked a match-high five goals for Hay was William Collis and Declan Watson added three in a 121-43 victory.

Macorna’s attack was led by Josh Walters and Tony Whinfield on three each.

Best for the Lions were Jack Cattanach, Jacob Watson, William Collis, James Moran, Brad Pocock and Jayden Kinces.

The Tigers’ best were Fergus Bear, Travis Mercadante, Malcolm Neiwand, Josh Berryman, Johnny Dawes and Josh Walters.

Five goals to nil in the opening term set up Ultima’s win at home against Murrabit.

The Kangaroos led 34-1 at the first break and then added 3.4 in the second as they kept the Blues goalless.

Ultima scored 4.6 as Murrabit broke the shackles to score two goals in the third term.

Ryan Devereux and Lincoln Frost finished with three goals as Riley Haberman and Cameron Johnson added two in a 15.22 (112) to 3.7 (25) victory.

Jack Shannahan kicked two goals for the Blues.

Best for the Kangaroos were Matt Taverna, Cameron Johnson, Jake Foster, Ryan Featherby, Lincoln Frost and Ryan Devereux.

Jack Shannahan, Tobie Cameron, Liam Holt-Fitz, Tom Copland, Jack Keath and Archer McKnight were Murrabit’s best.

Golden Rivers senior footy ladder:

Ultima 299 per cent, 12 points; Hay 290, 12; Wandella 88, 4; Macorna 76, 4; Murrabit 53, 4; Moulamein 31, 0.

Top teams Ultima and Hay clash in next Saturday’s fourth round at Ultima Recreation Reserve.

Moulamein is at home to tackle Macorna.

Murrabit faces Wandella in the battle of the Blues and Bombers.
