THE growing suburbs of Huntly, Maiden Gully, Marong and White Hills are strongly represented in the Bendigo Bank Bendigo Junior Football League.
A cluster of four clubs who carry the monikers of Hawks, Eagles, Panthers and Demons has a tally of 24 teams competing in a wide range of age groups.
White Hills is fielding eight teams of which seven played in last weekend’s 12th round.
The Demons had a win-loss record of four-three as the under-16A team had the bye.
The round kicked off with Friday night’s under-12 Girls matches.
White Hills scored a 31-21 point win on its ground in Scott Street against South Bendigo.
Goalkickers for White Hills were Evana Beto on three and Peyton Richo.
Best for the Demons were Emmi Oswald, Evana Beto, Marley House, Billie Lothian, Peyton Richo and Violet Dennis.
White Hills won the under-12B match against Huntly on the Hawks’ turf by 14 points.
The Hawks led 6-0 at quarter-time, but the Demons upped the heat to score 3.3 and kept Huntly to a point across the last three terms.
At the final siren White Hills led 21-7.
Patrick Ayres, Max Clark and Seb Watts were on target for the red and black.
Best for the Demons were Oliver Anfuso, Patrick Ayres, Jackson Boyd, Remy Kearns, Tarkyn McKenzie and Seb Watts.
It was a closely-fought under-12D match between White Hills and Marong in Scott Street.
The Panthers led 16-6 at half-time, but the Demons fought back to win the third, 8-7.
When the final siren sounded Marong led 23-15.
Goalkickers for White Hills were captain Lenny Allan-Cousins and Peyton Richo.
Best for the Demons were Lenny Allan-Cousins, Lachlan Andrews, Nixon Treble, Ryan Brown, Peyton Richo and Noah Robson.
In the under-14A competition, White Hills hosted the neighbouring Huntly in Scott Street.
The Hawks led 24-15 at half-time and then dominated the third term to score 3.4 as the Demons added 1.3.
Huntly kicked on for a 60-38 victory.
Goalkickers for White Hills were Isaac Collins and Chase Kelson with three and two.
Best for the Demons were Arlow Smith, Mitchell Nurse, Azlaan Ezad, Noah Fuller, Smith Morrison and Will Browne.
White Hills met Maiden Gully YCW Eagles in the under-14C match on the Scott Street ground.
The Eagles led 26-6 at quarter-time and 48-7 by half-time.
A fired-up Demons’ team won the third quarter, 18-8, but the Eagles surged clear in the last to compete an 83-31 victory.
The White Hills attack was led by Sam Kerville and Myles Dobbin on three and two goals.
Best for the Demons were Arlie Thacker, Myles Dobbin, John McCrann, Mason Argus, Patrick Millar and Muchovey Thomas.
In the under-15 Girls competition, White Hills won every quarter in a 40-8 result at home against South Bendigo.
Lola McGrath kicked two goals for White Hills as Sahrii Alford, Polly Keane, Phoebe Pedersen and Amelia Savage were also on target.
Best for the red and black were Lucie Passalick, Hayley Molyneux, Amelia Savage, Kelsee Bogumil, Polly Keane and Phoebe Pedersen.
It was a bye for White Hills in the under-16A competition.
The Demons make their way to Kangaroo Flat for next Sunday’s match with the Roos at Bendigo Mazda Oval in Dower Park from 2.30pm.
White Hills won a high-scoring under-16B match at home against North Bendigo.
By half-time the Demons led 39-27.
Quarter three was dominated by the team in red and black as it scored eight goals and kept the Bulldogs to a major.
North Bendigo hit back to win the last, 44-20, but it was White Hills which led 110-77 at the final siren.
Roman Middleton capped a great match for White Hills with seven goals as Noah Kalstrom kicked three.
The Demons had Blaik Campbell and Ethan McDonnell boot two goals as Alex Saville added another.
Best for White Hills were Ayden Beck, Ashton Byfield, Noah Kalstrom, Ryland Morton, Alex Saville and Ethan McDonnell.
Huntly had a win and three defeats across this round.
The Hawks swooped for a 22-point victory in the under-14A match against White Hills in the Scott Street den.
Accuracy played a key part as Huntly scored four straight goals in the first half to lead 24-15 at the break.
The brown and gold kicked on for a 60-38 win.
Angus Davies led the attack on three goals as Nash Campbell, Jed Hargadon, Henry Kleinert, Hugo Marwood, Isaac Plant and Ollie Wright were also on target.
Best for the Hawks were Jed Hargadon, Rex Edwards, Henry Kleinert, Austin Mountjoy, Isaac Plant and Angus Davies.
Huntly played Eaglehawk Eagles in the under-12 Girls match on Friday night at C and M Oval in Eaglehawk’s Canterbury Park.
The Eagles won 53-6.
Arlie Addink goaled for Huntly and was among the best with Bailey Matthews, Leila Pellegrino, Isabella Holmes, Mila Murchie and Ivy Smith.
The Hawks were on their turf in Strauch Reserve for the under-12B match against White Hills.
It was the Demons who won a closely-fought match, 21-7.
Huntly captain Charlie McKee goaled in the first quarter and was in the best with Judd Edwards, Indy Brown, William Reeves, Nate Piper and Patrick O’Connell.
It was the clash of two flocks of Eagles as Eaglehawk and Huntly met in the under-16B match at Canterbury Park.
Eaglehawk won 95-39.
Rhys Pitson led Huntly’s attack with two goals as Alex Doble, Alby Hargadon, Henry Kleinert and Jack Stone added one each.
Best for Huntly were James Clark, Jack Stone, Blake Maher, Mitchell McCashney, Henry Kleinert and Alby Hargadon.
It was four-three record for Maiden Gully YCW Eagles in this round.
The Eagles were in top form in the under-12A clash with Strathfieldsaye at Marist College Oval.
Maiden Gully led 45-7 at half-time on the way to an 83-21 victory.
Eagles’ captain Finn Mitrovic and Mac Donerty kicked three goals as Dylan Dyer and Thomas Ralphs added two each.
Mason Fitzgerald, Memphis Harrison and Xavier Wardell were also on target.
The Eagles’ best were Dusty Balic, Dylan Dyer, Mase Packer, Memphis Harrison, Mason Fitzgerald and Lawson Burke.
Maiden Gully YCW marked a 58-26 win at home in the under-12C match against Quarry Hill.
The Demons led 23-20 at half-time, but the Eagles took charge after the break.
Goalkickers for the Eagles were Hudson Lawry, four; Rylan Rothenberger, two; Sullivan Bracey, Sam Hill and Xavier Wardell.
Best for Maiden Gully YCW were Harrison Billett, Harry Lowe, Henry Bell, Hudson Lawry, Frankie Lees and Sullivan Bracey.
The Eagles fought for a 40-30 victory in the under-12D match with Castlemaine at Wesley Hill.
Goals for Maiden Gully YCW were kicked by Xavier Dixon, Oliver Garlick, Jackson Jones, Ryder Lloyd, Isaac Roberts and Lachlan Webb.
Best for the Eagles were Hudson Langtree, Isaac Roberts, Harrison Miller, Jackson Jones and Bailey Barnes.
Maiden Gully YCW met South Bendigo in the under-14A match at Marist College Oval.
The young Bloods surged to a 92-21 victory.
Kele Evans kicked two goals for the Eagles as captain Jimmy Brown added the other.
Best for the Eagles were Harvey Weeks, Jimmy Brown, Oscar Barras, Tyson Drum, Kele Evans and Jagger Benaim.
The Eagles played Castlemaine in the under-14B match at Marist College Oval.
Maiden Gully YCW won the third quarter, 30-15, but it was the Magpies who soared to a 99-37 victory.
Goalkickers for the Eagles were Owen Bell and Luke Warren, two; Angus Ferguson and Harvey Gunther.
Best for the Eagles were Will Isaacs, Blair Coghill, Scott Davis, Ned Wickham, Owen Bell and Jax Noonan.
Maiden Gully YCW won the under-14C match with White Hills in Scott Street by 52 points.
Nate Hadden slotted seven goals as Fletcher McCallum and Declan Thornbury kicked two and Thomas Quin the other in an 83-31 result.
Best for the Eagles were Oliver Downing, Jack Riley, Nate Hadden, Fletecher McCallum, Thomas Quin and Andrew Teece.
The Eagles took on the ladder-leading Golden Square in the under-16A match at Marist College.
Golden Square raced to a 35-6 lead by quarter-time and held a 64-point margin going into the last.
The final quarter was Maiden Gully YCW’s best as it scored 2.2, but the Bulldogs added four goals to complete a 112-35 win.
Darby Thomson kicked two goals for the Eagles as Tommy Evans, Patterson Murphy and Noah Mulqueen were also on target.
Best for Maiden Gully YCW were Nash James, Oliver Lawry, Jordan Barker, Tyson Attard, Tommy Evans and Harry Clapp.
Marong marked three wins and two defeats across this round.
The Panthers dominated the under-12B match on North Bendigo’s ground at Bendigo Club Oval in Atkins Street.
Marong racked up 50 scoring shots in an 185-9 victory.
Alfie Healey was in superb form as he kicked 10 goals as Jack Lakey kicked four and Coby Horne slotted three.
The Panthers had Harvey Atkinson, Jacob Eastman and Odie Healey boot two goals each as Zaiden Benson, Mitchell Webster, Oscar Wingfield and James Wynveen added one each.
Marong’s best were Coby Horne, Alfie Healey, Harvey Atkinson, Aidan Bradley, Jack Lakey and Odie Healey.
The Panthers’ under-12D team fought for a 23-15 win on the White Hills ground in Scott Street.
Cohen Glewis and Isaac Nind were listed on Marong’s sheet.
Evie Gardner, Riley Waters, Cooper Humphrey, Isaac Nind, Fergus Flynn and Angus King were Marong’s best.
The Panthers charged to a 162-8 victory in the under-14C clash with Kangaroo Flat at Jackal Oval in Marong’s Malone Park.
Charlie Miller led Marong’s attack on seven goals as Zayvah Allen and Hudson Schneider slotted four each and Harry McDonald kicked three.
The Panthers had Copper Bentley, Kayden Bradshaw, Oliver Dawborn, Chase Leathbridge, Blake McConvill and Chase Neal kick a goal.
Best for Marong were Zayvah Allen, Harry McDonald, Charlie Miller, Cruze Lobley, Cooper Davis and Quinton Tyler.
Marong’s under-15 Girls team headed north to Rochester to play at Windridge Oval.
The Tigers beat the Panthers, 77-14.
Missy Ladson and Florence White kicked Marong’s goals.
Best for the Panthers were Matilda Tucker, Florence White, Neve Sparkes, Marlee Crapper, Audrey White and Missy Ladson.
Marong played Golden Square in the under-16B match on the Bulldogs’ ground at Gourmet Pantry Oval in Wade Street.
The Bulldogs won 155-20.
Goals for Marong were kicked by Jack Cooper, Jaxon Marwood and Hudson Schneider.
Indie Gardam, Miller Bennett, Archer Holland, Cooper Hanson, Jaxon Marwood and Judd Byrne were best for the Panthers.
