EAGLEHAWK soared to a nine-point victory against Wedge-Tailed Eagles in Sunday’s round five match in the Champions IGA-backed CVFL senior women’s footy competition.
The Hawks made their way to the Eagles nest at Woodend’s Racecourse Reserve.
It was WTE which raced to a 20-1 lead at quarter-time and was up 26-15 by the long break.
The Molly Metcalf-coached Eaglehawk worked hard to score 1.2 and kept the Eagles scoreless in the third quarter.
Eaglehawk’s confidence kept rising and was capped by two goals in the last to complete a 37-26 victory.
The Borough’s attack was led by Kelly Mensforth and Lilly Stevenson with two goals each.

Best for Eaglehawk were Lucy El Hage, Molly Metcalf, Monique Gavriliadis, Caitlin Evans, Eliza Long and Kelly Mensforth.
Catherine Turnbull, Natalie Korinfsky, Demi Henderson, Taya Barnett, Belinda Hateley and Jessica Cannane were best for the Phil Hawkes-coached Eagles.
Golden Square was too strong for Sandhurst in Sunday’s match at Queen Elizabeth Oval.
The Darren Walsh-coached Golden Square raced to a 22-nil lead by quarter-time.
Sandhurst worked hard to hold the blue and gold to a behind in the second term.
The Bulldogs scored three goals in the third and another three in the last on the way to a 67-3 victory.

The White Hills Demons fired up to score a 106-nil victory against Bendigo Thunder at the Scott Street ground in White Hills.
The Demons’ attack was led by Kadeisha Smith on three goals and Tarlia Murphy with two as nine team-mates also slotted a goal.
Best for the Demons were Acacia Edwards, Courtney Collard, Tarliah Murphy, Chelsea Edwards, Kara Kane and Maiya Pearce.
Belinda Johnstone, Ngaire Harlan, Stacey Barbagallo, Morgan O’Neil, Archie Mclachlan and Chandie Antopina were best for the Mick McInnes-coached Thunder.

Round two in the Champions IGA-backed CVFL under-18 girls competition kicked off with Friday night’s match between Kangaroo Flat and Eaglehawk at Bendigo Mazda Oval in Kangaroo Flat’s Dower Park.
The Hawks won 90-30 as Kyah Spiteri slotted four goals and Darcy Martin and Tahlia Thorpe added two each.
Matilda Rose kicked two goals for the Kangaroos.
Best for the Two Blues were Tahlia Thorpe, Jessica and Imogen Brown, Kira Collins, Jessica Cox and Kyah Spiteri.
Kangaroo Flat’s best were Alyssa Bertuch, Miller and Mackenna Lindrea, Melanie White, Abigail Sendy and London Benaim.
Four matches were played on Sunday.
Storm surged to a four-point win against White Hills in the Demons’ den in Scott Street.
The Storm line-up led 20-9 at quarter-time, but White Hills struck back to win the third, 9-7.
Although the Demons added a goal in the last it was Storm which led 28-24 at the final siren.
Best for Storm were Seonah McGregor, Marlie Skinner, Scarlett Ward, Chella Fitzgerald, Rebel Connors and Akiva Morrissey.
Matilda Meersbergen, Jayda and Maleah Alford, Ella Treacy and Shanae Rotherham were best for the team in red and black.
Woorinen scored a 56-12 win against Echuca United at Echuca South Recreation Reserve.
The Tigers’ attack was led by Stella Bibby on two goals.
Woorinen’s best were Charli Conway, Ruby Butler, Kieley Styles, Lana Brooks, Meg Young and Carly Shepherd.
Best for the Eagles were Harper Delamere, Jada Dennis, Jaz Milligan, Charlie Martin, Lily Dunham and Matilda Fowler.
Marong dominated the second half to score a 43-point win against Castlemaine in the Magpies’ nest at Camp Reserve.
The Panthers led 39-26 at half-time and then won the third, 20-12.
As Marong scored 3.4 in the last it kept Castlemaine scoreless on the way to an 81-38 victory.
Alyssa Wardell kicked five goals in a best afield performance for the Panthers as Molly Austin added three majors and Phoebe England kicked two.
The Magpies’ attack was led by Ava Bartlett and Kate Batchelor on two each.
Marong’s best were Alyssa Wardell, Molly Austin, Phoebe England, Tianna Shay, Alana Dawson and Emma Kilby.
Best for Castlemaine were Ava Bartlett, Lilly Hartmann, Freya Readsmith, Isobelle Pratt, Amelia Brown and Kate Batchelor.
Sandhurst marked an 80-point win against Golden Square at Queen Elizabeth Oval.
The Dragons had 26 shots on goal in which Etta Place slotted three goals and Milla Franklin, Evie Gretgrix and Ryah Mackie added two each in the 11.15 (81) to 0.1 (1) victory.
Best for Sandhurst were Tully Place, Moanarose Moefaauo, Evie Gretgrix, Mekayla Reid, Milla Franklin and Macey Pinner.
Golden Square’s best were Remi Cooke-Kingston, Lucy Johansen, Laylah Walsh, Charlize Humme, Skylar Hickman and Teleah Hague.
