Hawks win high-scoring match against Strathfieldsaye

MORE than 100 goals were scored as Eaglehawk took on Strathfieldsaye in Saturday’s eighth round of A-grade netball in the Bendigo Bank Bendigo Football Netball League.

The Hawks were determined to bounce back from losses to Gisborne and Sandhurst as they took to the court at S & R Park in Canterbury Park.

It was Strathfieldsaye’s first hit-out since May 15 as Storm was drawn to play Castlemaine the previous round.

A great contest between the Two Blues and Storm ended in a 59-48 victory for Eaglehawk.

Results in the other three matches went as expected.

The ladder-leading Kangaroo Flat was too strong for South Bendigo at Queen Elizabeth Oval.

The Kangaroos passed the 60-goal mark for the sixth time this season in a 64-29 result against the Bloods.

The Jayden Cowling-coached Kangaroo Flat showed it’s not all about attack as the defence kept South Bendigo to its lowest score this season.

Sandhurst marked the trek south to Kyneton by scoring a 49-28 win at Kyneton Showgrounds.

Gisborne doubled Maryborough’s tally in a 60-30 victory at Gardiner Reserve.

Golden Square had another break in A-grade, but the blue and gold took on Castlemaine in the other grades of netball at Camp Reserve.
