HDFNL Netball Preview | Round 12

Cats aim to mark consecutive wins

BACK in the top five, Lockington Bamawm United will aim to keep the winning run rolling in Saturday’s 12th round of A-grade netball in the Bendigo Bank Heathcote District Football Netball League.

The Jessie Hardess-coached Cats played excellent netball on Heathcote’s court at Barrack Reserve last Saturday to score a 49-43 victory on the Saints’ court.

Now the challenge for LBU is to take the points against Leitchville-Gunbower at Lockington.

When these teams met on the Anzac Day weekend it was LBU which won 47-41 at Leitchville and Hardess earned the Anzac medal as best on court.

The Bombers are on the rebound from a 14-goal loss at home to Huntly.

Another big game will be at Toolleen where Mount Pleasant takes on Heathcote.

The Blues and Saints are on the rebound from defeat.

The fourth-placed Mount Pleasant was beaten by 39 goals in last Saturday’s match at White Hills.

Finals hopes for Heathcote are not gone, but the Saints need to beat the Blues to keep the pressure on LBU and Huntly.

White Hills makes the trek to Hibo Hotel Oval in Atkins Street to take on North Bendigo.

The round three match between the Demons and Bulldogs ended in a 72-25 win for White Hills at Scott Street.

The Demons are in hot form and should be too strong for an opponent which faced the might of Elmore last round.

White Hills scored 70 goals in its latest hit-out and will target that sort of score on the Bulldogs’ court.

Colbinabbin and Elmore have a rest this round.

The Grasshoppers and Bloods met in the season-opener on April 2.

The ladder-leading Elmore won by 14 goals.

Huntly has the bye.

Standings in the HDFNL’s A-grade netball competition:

Elmore 173 per cent, 44 points; White Hills 170, 36; Colbinabbin 98, 20; Mount Pleasant 95, 20; Lockington Bamawm United 87, 16; Huntly 80, 16; Heathcote 85, 12; Leitchville-Gunbower 83, 8; North Bendigo 57, 8.
