High-scoring contest played out on Marong’s court

GOALERS were in great form as Marong took on Maiden Gully YCW Eagles in Saturday’s 12th round of A-grade netball in the Bendigo Bank Loddon Valley Football Netball League.

The Panthers and Eagles met at Discover Marong Park in Malone Park.

The high-flying Eagles strengthened their top-two postion as they won a great match, 56-42.

Bridgewater scored a 56-40 victory on Inglewood’s court at Dissy Machinery Oval.

The Blues put in a great performance as the round three showdown with the Mean Machine at Bridgewater Bakehouse Oval ended in a 43-goal win for the hosts.

The ladder-leading Mitiamo was too strong for Newbridge at Simonds Homes Riverside Park in Newbridge.

The Superoos led 68-19 at the final whistle.

Mitiamo won the third round clash with the Maroons by 15 goals.

Calivil United marked a 41-25 win against Pyramid Hill on the Demons’ court at 5 Star Stockfeeds Oval in Calivil.

Standings in the Loddon Valley FNL A-grade netball competition:

Mitiamo 144 per cent, 36 points; Maiden Gully YCW Eagles 117, 32; Calivil United 121, 24; Bridgewater 110, 24; Marong 99.75, 16; Pyramid Hill 99.32, 16; Newbridge 62, 8; Inglewood 60, 4.

Highlight of next Saturday’s 13th round will be the showdown between sixth and fifth as Pyramid Hill hosts Marong at Mitchell Park.

The unbeaten Mitiamo plays the third-placed Calivil United at Mitiamo’s John Forbes Oval.

It’s the battle of the bridges as Bridgewater and Newbridge meet at Bridgewater Bakehouse Oval.

Inglewood has a rest in A-grade, but the Blues will play Bears Lagoon Serpentine in netball’s lower grades at Inglewood’s Dissy Machinery Oval.

Maiden Gully YCW Eagles has the bye.
