Kangaroos hop clear of several opponents

KANGAROO Flat bound its way to some impressive wins across the weekend’s seventh round in the Bendigo Bank Bendigo Junior Football League.

The Roos won a two-point thriller against South Bendigo in the under-14 reserves, division two match on Sunday on O’Keefe Oval 2 at Mercy Junortoun Sports Precinct.

South Bendigo charged to a 19-8 lead by quarter-time.

In the second it was the Roos who dominated a lot of play and scored 4.3 as the Bloods added two goals.

A four-point buffer for Flat became three going into the last quarter.

Although the Bloods won the last, 9-8, it was the Kangaroos who marked a 60-58 victory.

Chase Brown led Kangaroo Flat’s attack on three goals as Sam Colbert kicked two majors.

Best for the Roos were Josh Hermann Petersen, Maddox Lower, Spencer Salathiel, Darby Lamb and Sam Colbert.

It was a three-point margin in favour of Kangaroo Flat in the under-16 reserves, division one match against Winslow Constructors White Hills Demons.

The Roos and Demons played in the Scott Street den in White Hills on Sunday morning.

Kangaroo Flat won the opening term, 13-2, but the Demons fired up to win the second, 13-11.

At a quarter to go the Roos held a three-point buffer.

Both teams scored 2.2 in the last as the Roos fought on for a 39-36 victory.

Oliver Salau led Flat’s attack on two goals as Jett Gudge, Jarvis Mahon and Cooper Scholes were also on target.

Best for Kangaroo Flat were Jarvis Mahon, Austin Coghill, Noah Howarth, Nate Jennings, Oliver Salau and Jett Gudge.

Kangaroo Flat won the under-12D match against South Bendigo by 44 points.

The Roos skipped to a 23-3 lead by half-time in Saturday’s match on O’Keefe Oval 2 at Mercy Junortoun Sports Precinct.

The Kangaroos then scored 4.2 as they kept the Bloods to a tally of two behinds in the second half.

Henry John French ruled the Roos’ attack on four goals as Roman Grinter kicked two and Benji Salaivao added the other in a 49-5 victory.

Best for Kangaroo Flat were Roman Grinter, Roary Pearson, Noah Van Heugten, Henry John French, Eli Vance and Otis Mahon.

Kangaroo Flat and Strathfieldsaye had a closely-fought under-15 Girls seniors match at Triple M Park in Strathfieldsaye’s Tannery Lane.

Storm surged to a 21-6 lead by quarter-time and led 29-13 going into the last term.

The Kangaroos lifted their play to add 2.2, but Strathfieldsaye held on for a 35-26 victory.

Goalkickers for the Roos were Matilda Rose on two, Ava Ahearn and Eheh Soe.

Kangaroo Flat’s best were Jazmine Bowland, Melanie White, Matilda Rose, Ava Ahearn and Indigo Brown.

It was a bye for Kangaroo Flat in the under-16 reserves, division two competition.
