THE clash between Cohuna Kangas and Hay Lions highlights this Saturday’s eighth round in the Radio 3SH-backed Central Murray senior footy season.
Cohuna has home-ground advantage as second takes on fourth from 2.30pm.
Both teams take winning form into this contest.
The Kangas won last Saturday’s match in Murrabit by 175 points as Chris Anderson, Sam McGlone, Ricky Monti and Charlie Ford were best.
After kicking six goals against the Blues, Kain Robins will again be a key target in Cohuna’s attack.
Key match-ups for Cohuna include Brady Hore at full-back against Declan Watson, Mitchell Treacy at centre half-back opposed to Tom Banuelos.
The Kangas gain plenty of run through coach Jack Geary, Tom Toma, Ryder van der Zande and Travis Ford.
Hay won its latest match at home against Wandella by 149 points as Tom Banuelos, Matt McGannon, Wil Wolbers and Fergus Cattanach were best.
An attack which includes Jack Headon and Angus Gardiner will test the Kangas.
Hay is jointly coached by Mick Cattanach and James Moran.
Another big match will be at Woorinen where the Tigers take on Ultima.
It’s sixth against seventh.
The Tim Free-coached Woorinen won last Saturday’s clash with Swan Hill at Swan Hill Recreation Reserve by 51 points as Taylor Cameron, Lachlan Gardner, Lachie Martin and Oscar Lewis were best.
Players to watch in the yellow and black include Will Collicoat, Robert Rush, Sam Hilton-Joyce and Henry Thompson.
Best for Ultima in a 56-point win at home against Balranald were Caillum Brady, Cameron Johnson, Jake Foster and Matt Taverna.
A Storm attack led by Ben Kennedy, Kade Benfield and Dustin Burns will keep the heat on the Tigers.
The Joel Donnan-coached Ultima also has Billy O’Toole in the centre, Jye Purtill in the ruck, and Sol Kelly at half-back.
Mallee Eagles take on Koondrook Barham in Lalbert.
The Eagles soared to a 73-point win at Kerang last Saturday as coach Harry Allen, Marcus Wattie, Zac and Jacob O’Meara were best.
Key players representing Mallee include ruckman Hamish Hosking, Darcy Hourigan, Jayden Post, and Darcy, Harry and Tom McGregor.
Been a tough run for Koondrook Barham which played Nyah Nyah West United last round.
Best for the River Raiders against the Demons were Jack Poulton, Ryan Bassett, Harry Bremner and Roy George.
